I’m writing this review for Freeman T. who had an experience which could’ve threatened his health. Last month November 2025, he ordered a fried turkey from Hot Pots for Thanksgiving. While Freeman prepared the turkey at home, he discovered that the giblets and internal packaging had been left inside the bird. This presents a potential health and safety risk, especially if the internal bag was plastic or if the turkey had been partially cooked or heated with the bag inside. When he contacted the owner (Shawn) to report the issue, he responded dismissively and stated he “didn’t want to make it anyway, rather than addressing the safety concern or offer any resolution. It also, concerned him that the owner may not take any precautions while preparing the food. Poultry improperly prepared or cleaned before sale can cause serious foodborne illness, especially for an older man like myself, 64 years old. I can never see myself ordering anything here again.

i casually order from them on doordash. had the pork chops and whitning fish with the mac and potato salad. as a person who grew up in CT with my family from the south, the food i’ve tried hits close to my childhood. i highly recommend.

I spent 40.00$ and the only that was good was the banana pudding and Mac and cheese the chicken wings was hard and not fresh the ribs was burned and the greens was not cooked all the way and had no seasoning I will never eat at this place again
Ordered cabbage, yams , fried fish , jerk ribs , fried chicken . Cabbage there was no seasoning at all . Not a sprinkle of pepper or salt. It’s Steamed cabbage only. The ribs were over cooked. The fried fish tasted a day old. The greens were dry no juice a step down from canned glory greens you can tell they were not cooked with meat. . I don’t know what happen they use to be good . It had been about a year since my last visit !!! We spent 92 dollars but we threw it out. .

The food has been pretty good.I haven't tried everything but i am tired of the sides. I came in yesterday Actually I came in and I was getting 3 different dinners so I came to spend money. For 2 reasons The food is good and to support a great black business. I don't know if it was really her call or not but I was very disappointed. A man came and said I got $3. Can I please buy one piece of chicken? She said no. That was 💔 I told that man get in my car I got you. I brought. Him up to the Chinese shop and told him Tom the same thing. SMH The woman at the counter said no. Tom walked up. And said yes, give him 2wings & some fries😥 I said thank u but I'll pay for 4wings & rice and give him 2 orders one for his ole lady at home SMH
