Poor service. Table not ready at reservation time. Waiter discarded our leftovers without asking instead of wrapping them- including and expensive cake we had brought. Disappointed.

We love Max Downtown. Unfortunately tonight there were some mishaps. Our champagne was flat, our food was not hot, and the wine we had was open for too long or oxidized. The manager did give us another glass of wine, but I felt we could have been compensated a bit more.

A friend and I attended the Wente Wine dinner, the food, service, and wine were outstanding. They were generous with pours and portions and each dish paired beautifully with the wine selected. The only issue was the room was small and they probably could have done 1-2 less tables so people weren't so cramped in. It was nearly impossible to move my seat out to allow other diners to get in and out of their seats. It also meant there was a lot of noise making coming conversation a bit difficult. However it did not overshadow a wonderful experience.

What a great evening! We attended the Wente Wine dinner. The food and wine selections were perfect. It was also great to have a Wente family member there to guide us through the wine selections. All in all one great evening!

Server was not very attentive and wine took 15 mins to get, we had to then rush through dinner. Part of course was delivered to the table 10 mins after the the other plates

We booked a late lunch after a basketball game. So the restaurant filled up and obviously we had to wait longer than one normally would. That's the only reason I gave it four stars instead of five. Our server was excellent. The food was very good. I look forward to returning sometime in the future for dinner.

Max Downtown always pleases. They are one of few benchmarks for fine dining in the greater Hartford area.

Food was great but we waited extremely long for our entrees. We've been to Max before multiple times and we never waited this long. The steaks were phenomenal. Will be going again but hoping for more timely service and a shorter wait time for food
Our food experience at Max Downtown last night was very disappointing. This is our favorite place for special occasions and we were very disappointed in the food served. Not likely to come back anytime soon. I rarely post a negative review but had to this time.

I ordered the special The steak was so tough, I couldn't saw it with a steak knife. The fries were cold and had absolutely no taste. Truly disappointing. Kept having to ask for more water. Waited well over an hour to get our meals

Service was outstanding..... We were celebrating our Birthday's.... my wife had the Filet Oscar which was outstanding. I had the Prime Steak and Frits. The frites were outstanding but the steak was not as tender as it should have been for Prime. Wish I had the Oscar! We had early reservations (5:30) but be we were seated way in the back which was dark (hard to read our menus) and it took a long time to get our salads and even longer for our meal. They brought extra bread to fill the time, but that just served to fill us up so we couldn't finish our meals. None of this was the fault of the Waite staff. Our server and water person Logan were just awesome!! They were very attentive, polite and frankly the best we have seen anywhere for a long time... top notch!! As the area we were seated in filled up, it became very loud (could have just been to people next to us), but it was difficult to hear each other and made us which we had just sat/ate at the bar. That is what we will do next time if we come back. Price was quite high $250 with tip and that was splitting a salad, one side and no desert.

The bread and appetizers were exactly what we've come to expect from the Max restaurants. Our meals were timely, perfect temperatures and very delicious. We also had great deserts. It was an enjoyable experience. We look forward to our next visit to Max Downtown. James M.

Had a delicious girls night meal in the bar area. Brett was our server and he was amazing!! So attentive and personable! He made the evening a great experience.
