I went to this restaurant for the first time last month. Food and cocktails were delicious, and staff was friendly and professional. One thing happened though that left a bad taste in my mouth - I was overcharged by a bartender and still not sure if it was just a mistake.
I went there with my friend, who is a regular and highly recommended the place to me. We sat at the bar, shared one steak and a couple of appetizers, I had three drinks, she had one. Mostly one bartender was serving us.
I was going to put my card towards the total bill, and settle difference with my friend later. I gave my card to that bartender before he gave me a final bill (I know, it's a mistake), and when he returned the check with only the total, the total sum seemed much higher than I expected. I asked him for the detailed bill so we know how to split this check later, and he TOOK A NAPKIN AND CALCULATED only my friend's share (which was correct), but never printed out detailed check.
My half of the bill still seemed very high, and I never saw the breakdown, at this point our bartender disappeared, and I had to ask another bartender AGAIN to print out detailed bill for our dinner, which they were able to do really fast. A WHOLE $60 STEAK THAT WE NEVER ORDERED WAS ON THE BILL. Thankfully the rest of the team was very helpful, and were able to remove the steak and reprint the new bill.
If it was a mistake, I don't understand how it could be missed by the bartender who was serving us all night, knew we are sharing one steak (we asked him if they are large enough to share and they really are), and looked through the bill to write down my friend's share instead of just printing out itemized bill.
I love eating out in new places and do it regularly, but I never had it happen to me to that extent. Maybe a drink or two might show up on a bill by mistake, but never the whole $60 steak. I will probably not come back to this place, and would recommend to check your final itemized bill at all times, at any place.
I'm really thankful to the rest of the team who were able to settle this quick, hopefully I won't be charged the full amount of the wrong bill.

My friend had the short ribs and I had the bolognese with fresh shells. The food was wonderful, our service was excellent, and the ambiance was perfect. They also got us out in time to see the show. Great dinner out.

Perfect evening! The food was exceptional. Prices are reasonable compared to other high-end restaurants. Waitress was friendly and very mindful. Noise level was just right where you can hear each other.

I loved going to Max Downtown and eating at the bar. I miss the days of Scott and Sam. I miss the attentiveness, professionalism and class. I was surprised to have to ask for menus, silverware, water (and refills) and another drink. My husband says it our last time. ☹️

We had a great experience here. Adriana and Peter met us with smiles at the front. We were sat with Jason who was able to make recommendations when we couldn't decide and made our night very enjoyable. I also saw an old friend, Rumi who made sure we were enjoying everything. I have only been here twice and will certainly be returning. The food was great and the service was top notch

Wonderful meal celebrating my husband's birthday. Our server, Abel went above and beyond and the food was amazing. Max Downtown never disappoints which make this our favorite restaurant.

My wife is usually picky with her drinks and asked Amy to make a drink for her based on a listing of Preferences. According to my wife it was the best drink ever. Repasado tequila with something to make it a little sweet with a little sour. No vanilla or coconut based. If Amy’s there ask for the Vee special.
Do yourself a favor and indulge in their steaks. Truly succulent. I’ve been over a dozen times and I can’t help but order a juicy steak every time. They do it better then anyone else. Sides are always great as well. On top of that, Nick - one of the managers, is the coolest dude ever. I stay chatting it up with bro. Really classy establishment overall. This place will get you feeling right.

Visiting on a business trip from Arizona and brought my heading to college soon daughter with me. We shared an appetizer (the daily crudo), a steak entree, and two sides. The Scotch Salmon Crudo was delicious and fresh. The grapefruit really added to this dish. The Picanha steak was also flavorful and well prepared. The sides disappointed. The asparagus was extremely woody and we did not finish. The hollandaise sauce lacked tang and the prosciutto was not even tasted. A waste of money. The mac and cheese dish (which was what we came to the restaurant to try) was bland and lacked any depth of flavor. The service was attentive, but not friendly. The atmosphere was intimate and you could easily hold a conversation (which is difficult to do in many restaurants these days). Overall, for an expensive fine dining experience it was a little disappointing. But being from out of town I can't compare it to other offerings in the area. Total cost for shared meal (before tip) was $142. They offer free valet parking.
