We came for the Taste of Hartford, not knowing what to expect, other than what was on the tasting menu. While the bar appears to be a neighborhood hangout, the restaurant is a white tablecloth dining room with pictures of Portuguese scenes. A pleasant environment for dinner, with a chef who knows his oeuvre. The service was questionable to say the least, but we ended up happy with our dinner. We ordered a bottle of Malbec, and she brought a different one from the one on the menu....
I couldn't have been happier... Very authentic! Brought my Portuguese mother here for her 90 birthday based on personal recommendations and the reviews. There were 11 in our party and we ordered family style. We had the codfish cakes, chourica sausage, and buffalo wings as appetizers. For the entrees we had the pork and clams, the steak with traditional seasoning, grilled chicken breasts with peppers and onions along with roasted potatoes and Portuguese rice on the side....
Excellent Portuguese food in the restaurant, a nice small neighborhood bar with a good crowd of nice friendly south end citizens. Try the steak and pork mix. Served with rice and pickled vegetables
