Restaurant shows as open online, until 11 pm. Even the times on the front door states open. However the restaurant was closed at 9:30pm

Been here a couple of times now, and each time it's been on point. I raved so much about it after my visit to Hartford six months ago that I was afraid I'd oversold it to my wife when we both came to Hartford. Nope. She loved it too. I think the lobster mac 'n cheese is my favorite. Absolutely amazing.

Absolutely Disgusted — 1 Star Isn’t Low Enough

I don’t even know where to start. I waited THREE hours for a RawRita—a drink that was supposed to be dragon fruit and made with Reposado tequila. It was neither. I literally watched them make it, and they looked like chickens with their heads cut off—no organization, no clue what they were doing, just throwing things together and hoping it passed.

When I asked about the tequila, the bartender tried to upcharge me, like I hadn’t already ordered it with Reposado. And let’s talk about that bartender—he clearly hates his job, and it showed. Zero effort, zero customer service.

My fish tacos were dry as hell, my cooked oysters were cold, and at that point, I’d been waiting so long there was no excuse. It wasn’t even busy! The food should’ve been hot and fresh—but nothing was right.

The waitresses were MIA, and when they finally reappeared, it was like they wanted to vanish again. The lady owner was yelling at her staff like it was their fault the whole place was falling apart. Step in and help if you see chaos—not scream and add to it.

Meanwhile, the man who looked like the other owner was more concerned with taking pictures like he was running some VIP red carpet event. Sir, your kitchen is in flames—get it together.

They were just mixing anything, making it up as they went. Sloppy, unprofessional, and honestly embarrassing.

I’m absolutely disgusted. One star because I can’t give zero. RAW in Downtown Hartford is not it. Don’t waste your time, money, or patience.

Absolutely the slowest most incompetent weight staff we have ever dealt with. In addition to which the chef according to the waitress sent us out one appetizer and one meal before the other appetizer and the other meal after we specifically asked to make sure the appetizers came out first. The bartender instead of following my instructions for drink decided to mix my Kahlua with a pineapple juice. It was a disaster. It took 40 minutes before anybody even started to take our order and they were only three other tables they were occupied. The excuse was that they had had a baby shower that ended just before we got there and they had to spend extra time cleaning up. I thought it made more sense to try and take care of the customers who would presently there instead of the ones who had previously been around. All in all it was a horrible experience.

What a great place to go early. I understand it's hopping late at night, but I had a nice quiet dinner. The bartender made me feel right at home. Had no problem whipping me up a special Mocktail. My server was super nice as well. Would definitely go back

For the second visit they were out of both cocktail ingredients and seafood as well as beef. Disappointing experience. Pleasant waiter but understaffed and under provisioned

The service was excellent. But no they didn't have a lot of stuff in the menu and the food weren't what we expected for the price. Plus charge me 30 for drinks that we didn’t get , because they didn’t have them.

I’ve been in Connecticut for training and stopped by The Raw Bar a few times. The two young bartenders were always cool, no complaints there. But when I visited in March after work, that’s when I saw some blatant, disgusting racism. They didn’t have much food because the food truck had just pulled up. Fine. I’d already been sitting there for 30 minutes when two young white women walked in.

Immediately, the General Manager (Chris, I believe) rushes over to *them* to let them know what’s available. Not once did he bother to approach me or offer the same courtesy. I tried to let it slide, but then came time to order—about an hour had passed. And guess what? He takes *their* order first. Then he serves another white group, completely ignoring me.

I sat there pissed and finally spoke up. His response? Rude, dismissive, and constantly repeating, “I’m the General Manager,” like that means anything when he’s showing clear bias. Let’s be real—I know for a fact he’s not the owner, because I’ve seen the actual owner on previous visits.

I kept my cool, but inside I was furious. It’s absolutely sickening that this kind of racism is still happening in 2025. It’s pathetic. I won’t be coming back. They never have food, and those crab cakes? Trash. But the real issue is how they treat people of color like we’re invisible. I’m done giving them my money.
