Inclusive, community-centered coffee shop with a cozy atmosphere, sublime baristas, and the best coffee I've ever had. The chorizo burrito alone is enough to bring you back for more, but the coffee will take your breath away.

Cute cafe with plenty of seating options! I got the rosemary lavender hojicha latte and the vegan breakfast burrito which were both tasty and were ready quickly!

My girlfriend and I have been coming here every so often and have always enjoyed the great service and coffee. Unfortunately, this visit didn’t meet the usual standard. We were served coffee with curdled milk, which was disappointing. Please make sure to check the freshness of the milk before serving—it makes a big difference in the experience.

Vibes, Flavor, and Design ☕🌿🎨
Story and Soil is a must-visit café in Hartford! From the moment you walk in, you’re hit with cozy vibes, creative energy, and the aroma of fresh-roasted coffee 🔥💫.

The La Marzocco machine 💛 is a statement on its own, and the space blends modern industrial with art-forward touches 🎭🖼️. Whether you’re chilling solo or meeting up with friends, the vibe is welcoming and unique.

Their espresso cortado and 🍵 matcha was smooth and rich ☕, and the curated selection of bags and beans on the shelf? Barista-approved quality 💼

A hidden gem and shining star in Hartford. Truly one of the best coffee shops around -- great coffee culture and culture of welcome and belonging.

Saw this place ranked in the top 100 in the US, and now that I finally moved back to the area was excited to try it out. However, I was left extremely disappointed by the staff. Although there was only one customer in front of us, already checking out by the time we walked in, it took the staff more than 5 minutes to even talk to us. The entire interaction made us feel like our presence was the worst thing to happen on this earth. We put in the order and waited about 15 minutes until our drinks were ready. I watched the barista remeasure the milk about 3 times and use her bare hands to level the espresso. Not sure where it’s considered sanitary to put your fingers into people’s espresso, but that’s not what I would prefer. Then we got the wrong pastry brought to us and when I asked for the right pastry, I was met with so much attitude. Watching the barista pick up the pastry with her bare hands made me want to just walk out of the store. Overall, the pastries and coffee were decent, but certainly not top 100. The restaurant itself had an interesting multilevel set up, but the politically charged fliers and symbols on the wall also made me feel unwelcome. Afterwards, I looked more closely here on google reviews and saw that many people had a similar experience, which is unfortunate. I know the owner reads these reviews so I’ll give it another shot later to see if this place improves, because it has a lot of potential.

Immediately I loved the vibe of this coffee shop, and my iced Spanish latte and mushroom, egg, and cheese sandwich were incredible. Can't wait to go back

Very good coffee!!! I had a half decaf half, regular drip coffee. The taste suggests that Story and Soil uses quality beans and brews them well. It’s kind of pricey, though, at ~$4.50 for a 16 oz drip coffee with no additions. Cool interior space that has ground floor and underground seating.
