I LOVE Parkes Place! It’s such a charming diner in our little corner of the world! We are always greeted with warmth, even on the busiest of days. this Is a family friendly restaurant. It’s nice to walk into a small restaurant for breakfast with your family and feel like you’re actually welcome there and not a number. As for the food, Best French toast around. The kids get pancakes, the cakes are the size of a large platter!! HUGE!The only complaint I have is they stopped doing the outdoor music which was our saving grace during COVID! We could get a table outside, order some food and listen to the live performances! That was awesome! All in all, parkes is a 10/10. Friendly, affordable and delicious!
We went to eat for Mother’s Day. Our party consisted of myself, my ex husband, his wife and our combined 8 children. We opted to sit outside, it was beautiful out and we had a large group. The food was great and our server was nice but we did have an issue, our bill was brought to us before we even got our food for starters and we were asked to pay. That was a no, I told my ex not to pay yet. They start bringing food out and maybe half of our party had their food and the server told us that the owner specifically asked us to go pay because we are outside and they want us to pay now, my ex said he would pay once everyone had their food. Which I personally wouldn’t have done because you pay after you eat and food was up to par because that’s how things work! He went in to pay because he’s a better person then I am. Mind you, if you have kids, you know how long it takes to get kids in the car, nobody was dine and dashing! And if that’s how they felt they should’ve sat us inside, being so concerned. It was very insulting because we are all very professional, respectful adults, we take the kids out often and it was belittling and I’ve never experienced something like this. So I’m unsure whether it was racial profiling or stereotyping but I know we will never be giving this business our money again. I would never recommend anyone support a business that handles things this way!
Place bent me over and robbed me for my money. The burger which is labeled as $7.50 was in reality $14.75 was absolutely disgusting. The fries were just as terrible as they were soggy and wet. Would not recommend to anyone who wants to consume edible food.
Excellent breakfast! You do not leave there feeling like something was missing!Nice cup of coffee, perfectly cooked eggs, home made hash browns and fried potatoes. Tots stuffed into my omelet!!!
Didn’t even get to experience the food, walked in and immediately felt uncomfortable. There was a sign that said please wait to be seated so we waited and the waitress yelled something to us, wasn’t sure what she said then came around the corner looking at us like we were complete idiots. It was our first time there so we did what it said “please wait to be seated” so that’s what we were doing, we figured out she was yelling for us to sit down somewhere. We proceeded to find a seat but the tables were too small, we had a big party. We decided to leave and the waitress was yelling through the whole restaurant asking if everything was ok. Very rude waitress!
We have eaten here only 2 times in the past 12 months when passing through. Fabulous food, cooked to our specifications. Friendly, helpful staff. We would highly recommend.
Small town breakfast and lunch restaurant which never disappoints. Six years ago we came for the first time and my son, who has sensory issues had an issue with his ice cream. Both Michele and Parke noticed and took care of it right away. For years, Parkes was the only place he would eat at outside of home and we loved going there as a family for dinner. I still miss Parkes clam fritters and him himself. The staff still asks for my son and really cares about their customers and know them well. I look forward to the times I can go in there and sneak a breakfast in. The counter is lively and everyone is friendly. Like an old home feel and even if you are not talking, just observing is something that is uniquely Ledyard to me. Please don't ever move back to Preston!
One of the best breakfast food places in town. The food reminds me of southern home cooked meals. We normally take out because the atmosphere is a bit outdated inside but staff is super friendly. Family business.
RESPONSE: This is a response to the reply to my original review. We actually PAID IN CASH! As we were getting on our coats, I personally saw the tall gentleman with dark hair carrying the bucket and wearing an apron, pick it up. I thought that was strange as the waitress usually does that, but figured it's the restaurants routine. We would never leave a restaurant without paying the tab. I'm sorry if our payment did not make it to the appropriate person(s) but that is a problem you'll have to dispute with your staff. There is no good reason to ever not pay a tab!! Thank you for cooking. The food was good. Also, thank you for your reply.ORIGINAL REVIEW: The food was good. Got scrambled eggs, bacon, and sausage. Atmosphere is super old school, not my style, but we were hungry so we went there.Service was super slow. We were told once we sat down that there was a larger party that arrived and ordered before us, so we'd have to wait for their food to be finished. I'm assuming they only have one Cook. Our food took a while about 35 - 40 minutes. I added something to my order about 20 minutes after placing our orders. I was told that since I added it later, the extra item would take longer than everything else. Once our food arrived, I asked if they'd already begun making the extra item bc if not, I'd like to cancel it. Waitress checked, and it turns out it hadn't even been started yet, so I canceled it.
Good was okay but why did the cook keep looking at us? Very unsettling. Were we taking too long, plenty of empty tables, so what was the problem. Creepy

The Julie Omelet w hollandaise sauce is top 5 omelets of my life.Friendly service, family charmClose to Mohegan and Foxwoods and worth the detour if you’re in the area. Will definitely be back
I'm certain that others have had a spectacular meal here. I waited an hour (quite politely mind you) and ended up with undercooked pancakes (see photo) , undercooked potatoes, and a bill for $23.56. The one star is for the service and that's the only thing I don't have a complaint about. Be aware that they are probably short handed.
The food and service was very good. I was in a party of 8 and the waitress was very competent in taking our orders and waiting on us. The food was very good. I would recommend this place for eating.
