Valentino's Restaurant

Take out...one of many over several years..again, going South, unhappily...used to be a pleaser,in all respects. Large family order, tonite full of flaws...will consider elsewhere in future. First..they promised delivery tonite, the reniged on that, and order was all in!! BAD business!! Then..veggie pizza lacked several veggies promised in menu...chicken parm was HALF the size it always used to be( ordered full size), with skimpy amount of chicken...and eggplant parm had to literally be drained of lots of water liquid , from throwing in a tiny but juicy serving of broccoli on top of the parm!! Come ON!!! Buck up if you want continued business, people!!

I grew up in Ledyard and lived in the vicinity up until 5 years ago. The food had always been above average at Valentino's, but now it is barely edible. Judging from other recent reviews, there seems to be new management/ownership indefinitely reflects in the quality of the food. My son is ASD and has specific dietary needs, which was never a problem before at this restaurant. Needless to say, he has processed their "food" from both ends. Apparently, they just say they have a gluten-free pasta option. My wife's stomach was upset most of the night as well. Hard pass on this sh*t hole of a restaurant.

The quality of service has gone down substantially in recent years... When it first changed owners, I remember two employees arguing loudly in front of several customers. Since then, there's always new staff behind the counter who don't seem to care about cleanliness or service. Today we went to grab a few slices & when we walked in, there was a young kid eating at the cash register, who then wiped his mouth with the back of his hand, then wiped his nose. I thought we would be okay since a different employee came to put the slices in the oven..but after that person walked back off, the first guy forgot them in the oven and burned them. He only realized we were still waiting when we got up and asked. When removing them from the oven he stacked the 3 slices onto one plate (we ordered to go) and as a slice almost fell, he caught it against his shirt. We opted to get our money back and leave. It's clear he has no training in restaurant etiquette and perhaps should not be working unsupervised in the front.
It's a shame the service lacks, because the pizza itself is usually good.

Grandmas pizza. First time having it and it did not disappoint. Definitely a place to try.

Called to order 5 pizzas for a birthday a day before hand and was told they couldn’t handle doing that…

This used to be a really delicious place. Since new ownership we’ve had nothing but problems with the food. They’ll read the order back to you before you leave, you come home and something will still be wrong. They’ve forgotten chicken too many times. They forget sides, and the quality is sub par. Tonight I got a chicken Caesar salad that had dressing dripping from it and tasted like mayonnaise. They gave me the wrong type of chicken also. It was the worst salad I’ve had in my life. The bread that came with it was stale and soggy. I ate the chicken out of it after wiping the gross dressing off and threw the rest away.
I keep going back hoping to get the food the way it used to be but that’s just not the case.
I think this was it for me.

I generally try not to be a jerk, the food here is great and the staff is super friendly but it’s kind of unacceptable that I can recall more than 5 instances where they have put me on hold and never picked back up, I’ve waited as long as 15 mins only to have to call back to make my order. It’s to the point where when I hear “valentinos please hold” I just sigh in annoyance knowing that I’ll never be picked back up, in fact I am on hold with valentinos as I write this review and now that it is finished I have waited 8 mins and still have not been able to make my order.

Ordered a small cheese/bacon and a pasta over the phone and I was told 20 mins. I got there in 15 mins I walked in one table sitting and a person picking up their order infront of me. I paid and was standing around for a good 10 mins waiting for my pizza when I see them just put my pizza in the oven and tell me just another few mins. I asked if that was my pizza that just went in the oven they said yes I got my money back and left for work hungry.

I used to go here all the time. I used to pay 10 bucks or less for 2 slices and a soda, but now I paid 15 bucks for 2 slices of pizza and 2 sodas. Yikes! Good pizza, just now pricey. I think the soda costs more than the slices. No soda for me next time. I'm not a huge fan of crust (it's bland), but that's my personal opinion. NY style, and I love ny style.

Cheese slice had major FLOP but was not to bad. The GMA corner was damn great, very crispy,light and full of flavor

First time ordering, got a hot meatless grinder (onions, peppers and mushrooms). Won’t be ordering that again, got a handful of raw veggies in a stale bun with cheese.

Pizza was very good, and so was the Greek salad but it was about 85 degrees out and the place was super hot,we didn't feel any AC , we were not given any utensils, napkins or plates for the salad ,I asked and the guy just walked away so I had to get up and ask the cashier. I would recommend take out since the food was good .
