I happened to meet Tom Kelly while visiting Newport, RI, where he introduced to this bourbon from my home state of Connecticut. His depth of knowledge about the product intrigued me and I told him that back in Atlanta, I host a monthly meet up dubbed the B4 Group (beef, beer, bourbon & boys.) We, in part, we'll sample about 5 new bourbons each time and we'll try any and all newcomers. Tom suggested we bring a bottle of Litchfield back to toss into the mix, which he helped make it happen. It turned out to be a big hit with the guys and I got to showcase a bourbon from my home state of CT. Thanks again, Tom!
This is a great place to go with friends and enjoy a wonderful time. You get a beautiful drive up to the lichfield area. And then an amazing experience at the distillery. So many options of their items to sample. I love their creme de Maple bourbon and their agave spirit. Of course.I purchased a bottle of each.
And then go on the tour. It's amazing what goes into making it. It's very clean and well organized. Definitely will go back.
Went in with my family last weekend, fully intending to purchase a bottle of whiskey from the local distillery. As soon as I walk in, there’s this tall thin bald guy with glasses sitting on a stool (positioned right near the entrance - I’m assuming to greet people?) and he is absolutely wasted. The second I walk in with my family, he makes a sarcastic joke about my appearance - I proceed to laugh it off (it was apparent very quickly to everyone I was with that he was heavily intoxicated while at work…). Then I say how are you doing?” After an awkward silence he says - “oh wonderful, I’m working on a Saturday” in a drunken sarcastic tone. Then makes another sarcastic comment saying - “in case you didn’t realize that’s sarcasm”. After a few more passive aggressive comments from him, I’m like alright dude.. I gather my family and just leave because the guy was giving off aggressively negative energy, and felt very unwelcome there from the second I walked in the door. The guy was just sloppy and was a poor representation of a business, that I think otherwise is a wonderful establishment.
Great experience at Litchfield Distillery! The tour was fun and informative — we learned a lot about how bourbon is made and what goes into crafting their spirits. Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the visit really enjoyable. The bourbon tasting was excellent — smooth and full of flavor. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area!
Good tour and tasting.

This bourbon is very good here, They have steadily grown since their inception. I love this place!
We had a fantastic time on the distillery tour with Mike as our guide. He was knowledgeable, engaging, and made the entire experience memorable. When we come back, we wouldn’t want anyone else..Mike is the best!
Great tour with a very nice tasting. Lots of variety in their selection. Maple syrup was dleish too! Highly recommend visiting.
Even not as a whiskey drinker the tour was interesting and informative. Maple syrup is amazing.

Went on a tour and tasting here. The staff was ver friendly and our ‘tour guide’ was extremely knowledgeable! Very fun to learn about the history and process. The tasting was fun and delicious. Wide a variety of merchandise in the store too!
This place is much more impressive than it looks from the outside. It is much larger than I expected and they have a large variety of liquors. The tour and free tastings weee fantastic as well. Everyone was super friendly, highly recommended checking this out if you are in the area.
We love Litchfield Distillery! Everyone that works here is so kind and helpful. We have toured several times and each visit learn something new! Their bourbon and other spirits are lovely and we've loved every limited edition product we've tried. They don't make you feel pressured to purchase anything after the complimentary tasting but we do every time because it and the people are just so great. Always a spot we bring friends and family when they come to visit. Thanks for being amazing Litchfield Distillery Family!!
Favorite products:
1) Cask Strength Bourbon- just delicious and a staple in our cabinet
2) Honey barrel aged gin- limited edition that I hope they will make again
3) Regular gin- the first gin I ever really liked
4) Bourbon maple syrup-no other syrup will ever measure up
Came out to Connecticut from Texas to see what the fuss is all about; we had great BBQ at Hindsight in Waterbury and when the conversation turned to whiskey they recommended we check out Litchfield Distillery. What a recommendation in deed! This small business is ran by some passionate and very knowledgable individuals. We were greeted warmly, they answered ALL of our curious questions, they let us pick which spirits to sample and even rewarded us with a sample of their Bourbon Barrel aged Maple Syrup. I can’t wait to be back in CT for more.
Bourbon tasting from the barrel? You bet! For a small batch bourbon maker, this place has outdone itself! The maple bourbon is a must try!
