We love Lenny and Joe's! It's a great place to go with the kids with the outdoor seating and the carousel and the ice cream shop! Food is great and you can bring your own drinks and set up a picnic. Great place!

Whole clamsThe batter kept falling off – as soon as I picked up a clam. The clams were different in size. The big clams on the top tasted wet and soupy, and the small ones were crispy but only if the batter was still clinging on to them.Hot DogThis hotdog was cooked on a skillet, and it tasted undercooked. I prefer a hotdog cooked on an open flame.$32 approx$4 tip$36 totalI will not be going back for a very long time.

I enjoyed Lenny and Joe’s so very much. The staff working there are so friendly! I ordered baked stuffed shrimp and it was truly out of this world. The stuffing is very flavorful and light. I also ordered the boiled red potatoes and Cole slaw and both were yummy! The only thing stopping me from a 5 stars is the atmosphere. The restaurant is clean yet is it worn and somewhat dull and tired looking. The bathroom could use a facelift too! That being said, I will visit L&Js every time I visit CT!

Lenny & Joe's Fish Tale Madison well known on the CT shoreline to locals and travelers is close to Hammonasset Beach State Park. It offers a casual and informal atmosphere serving seafood. Plenty of seating indoors and outside too. Summer time there is an outdoor carousel and ice cream which all sounds great but I beg to differ with many of the other reviews. I gave Lenny & Joe's another try for the first time since post-Covid. I admit, I wasn't a fan prior and still aren't after this visit. Decided to go for the Wednesday night fish fry (all you can eat). One meal constitutes of one piece of fried fish , fries and a small cup of cole slaw. I've had better fish many a place. It's a thin piece of sole white and flaky but my issue is the fish tastes like fried oil and it shouldn't. For $19.99 per meal, way overpriced for the quality received even if I can get another piece after the first one. The Cole slaw is adequate and average. I've had better. I've had worse. Also ordered one order of roasted mixed vegetables for $6.99 which wasn't bad, actually pretty decent, blanched then roasted. I truly wish the food was better being the location and atmosphere work well if you visit Hammonasset in Spring, Summer and early Fall. A couple other points of note. The staff was extremely nice and helpful but I'm there to eat and the service alone doesn't cut it. Lenny & Joe's also got rid of the counter order system. You select your own seating but now have waitstaff take your order and serve you so when a fish fry for 3 equals $74.34 drinking tap water only. And have to tip minimally $11-$15 for the great service, the atmosphere & food quality isn't worth $90 to me I can go to a fancier restaurant with better food for that. Looking forward to Clam Castle across the street to open up for Springtime. Sorry Lenny & Joe's I wish I could say better.
