The place is beautiful but the açaí bowls are lacking flavor. Might as well give me water with a side of acai.

Acái had no flavor what so ever. Very bland, will not have again.

Nice to grab an acai bowl, smoothie or toast outside. Not much seating inside. I liked the chickpea salad. Also the protein balls are delicious treat!

Delicious açaí bowl! The blueberries, bananas, and peanut butter were super fresh and perfectly balanced with the açaí. The bowl was full of flavor and really satisfying. The staff were also really kind and welcoming it made the whole visit even better. Highly recommend!

Almost all the bowls are plant based, just make sure you ask with no honey in it. I think they were a little bit tasteless. But a good option for the hot days and you want to refresh.

Look no further for the perfect avocado toast. Order the pesto & tomato avocado toast and you will be in heaven! Also the nutty açaí bowl is perfection. They nail it with everything on the menu here.

This is our favorite place to go on the way to Hammonasset Beach. They have acai bowls and great smoothies.

Great smoothies and love all the vegan options

Delicious and fresh vegetarian restaurant! Asides from whey and honey as add-ins, everything else is vegan. We had 2 smoothies and a vegan caesar salad. I got the Hartford Kaler smoothie with added ginger, and I think it was around $8. I like that it was no added sugar. I also had an upset stomach, and the smoothie soothed my nausea immediately. The vegan caesar dressing was delicious, and the staff and owner were very kind and welcoming. Food came out fast and had a beautiful presentation.

Unfortunately, no public restroom and no fresh pressed juices. I would have rather ordered a green juice instead of a smoothie that day, personally. We also saw two girls ask about pressed juices and walk out when they didn’t have any. I think that this place would greatly benefit with some pressed juices!

I put 4 stars on the “food” rating because I think this place would be perfect if it were fully vegan and had juices!

Love this spot. Great coffee, and açaí bowls. I just had the chickpea salad sandwhich and soup which was fantastic and will be my new go to spot for a quick lunch. Always good music too!

Exemplified by their motto, “Eat, Drink, and Be Berry,” the Madison and New Haven cafés share nearly identical menus that specialize in Californian- and Hawaiian-style fruit bowls. Veggie salads, open-face sammies, almond-milk smoothies, and connoisseur coffees round out the concise but diverse menus. The daily soups and daily specials all are vegan. Except for honey that can be omitted and the add-ons of bee pollen or whey protein, everything else is vegan, though Life Bowls sems to want to keep that a secret. Distinct from so much vegan food that is just junk food, the entire menu scores high for nutrition. No fried foods, no white sugar, no mock meats. Everything served here is both delicious and nutritious. The Madison café on picturesque Main Street is across the street from R.J. Julia Booksellers, the region’s finest independent bookstore, and right next door to the Madison Cinema, formerly exclusively an arthouse that survived the lockdown shakedown by now featuring many Hollywood flicks. Whereas the interiors of the cafés at both locations are small with limited seating, the Madison site features tables outside its front entrance sheltered by an overhead portico that provides comfortable dining nearly year-round. Still, most local folks come here for takeout. Seasonally, its food truck expands its outreach to the underserved communities outside of New Haven and Madison. Every town in Connecticut deserves to be treated to the high nutritional standards of Life Bowls.

I asked for no coconut, but found pieces of coconut in my bowl anyway. It’s a good thing I’m not allergic. The granola was very hard and the blend tasted thin and watery. I didn’t like the taste and ended up throwing out most of my bowl.

I had a fantastic experience here. Best açaí bowl I’ve ever had.
