Avella’s Italian take out is Middletown’s premier place for Italian Pizza & Cuisine.
Totally a hidden gem! Even though this spot just opened in 2022, the deli has such authentic Sicilian comfort food that it feels like it’s been here forever! They had a great variety of sandwiches to choose from, and we loved the Bada Bing! I visited with my mom, and we were basically eating with our eyes from the moment we walked in the door. We couldn’t resist grabbing a piece of their lasagna and a few garlic knots! Many of the recipes have been passed down through the owner’s family. Even though Avella’s is take-out only, there are a few good picnic spots nearby on the Connecticut River. The staff was friendly and had everything prepared quickly for us. We will absolutely be back and will be keeping them in mind for catering!

Western CT State University Softball team gives 5-star ratings to Avella's Take Out and their employee Emily. We called early in the week to let them know we would be ordering about 25 items for the team to eat after our scrimmage. Emily was more the helpful and so easy to work with, ordering and payment was easy, delivery was perfect and most importantly the team loved all their food, from sandwiches to salads to calzones and pizza, everything was tremendous! When we come back we will be back to Avella's Take Out. Thank-you!!

We had spent the afternoon walking our pup around Middletown for his birthday. Decided we wanted to get takeout for dinner. Did a quick Google search for places we hadn't tried yet and stumbled across Avella's. We ordered two sandwiches one hot and one cold. Upon arrival for pickup the sandwiches were absolutely huge, first words out of my mouth was " now that's a sandwich, maybe we should have gotten just one?"Both were fantastic, fresh, delicious and tasty and seriously perfect! Can't wait to try other things from the menu!

First time going to Avella’s and Sal and his wonderful team were warm and very welcoming. I got the Bada Bing sun and some Sicilian pizza. Everything was delicious, this is by far one of the best Italian sub places on the east coast. I will ABSOLUTELY be back!!! :)

Tried the Philly Steak and it was phenomenal. Great flavor, soft but stable roll, and perfect temperature. The ingredients tasted fresh and we well put together. First time coming and I'll be sure to come back. Exceptional food, taste and service.The place is small, almost looks like a typical deli when you walk in. But they have a VAST amount of stuff to offer, from their grinders to their pizzas and pastas. The young lady and older gentleman (Sal) were very welcoming and helped me find what I was looking to order. The hospitality was elite, and automatically makes me want to come back. I'll update with my food review. I ordered a Philly steak.Parking: Parking is limited to street parking.
