“I fell in love with Birria tacos recently during a visit to TX, so I was really looking forward to trying this food truck. It was a big disappointment. $32 for three small tacos and a quesadilla? They didn’t even include the consome which is a signature part of the Birria experience. You had to pay extra for it. We asked if they had any chicken or shrimp options, which are listed on their website…nope. Just beef, which was pretty bland. Sorry, wanted to like ya, but one and done.”
“Went with some friends… 3 adults and 1 toddler. Seating is comfortable and they have high chairs for the kids. Pros: Service was great a very friendly staff. The food was amazing and fresh! Highly recommended. Everything was so fresh and presented nice on the plates. Cons: food took over an hour to get to our table- they seem to have a good pick up/carry out orders which could be why it takes awhile. If you are all adults and have time to relax then it’s perfect- if you have kids I recommend you order take out.”

The knowledgeable and kind staff make one feel welcome at their beautiful facility in a former 19th century brick factory building. You can BYOF takeout of choice to enjoy with their drinks either inside the brewery or at one the many picnic tables on their elegant outdoor terrace. This is a great place to hold functions like parties, fundraising galas, etc.”

“I ordered delivery during lunch time. They have some really great lunch special options, so it seemed like the perfect time to try this place. I ordered the beef negimaki bento box which came with soup, salad, a california roll, rice, and some yakitoried veggies. I was able to add one some tempura for 3 dollars extra and I sure did. Everything was absolutely delicious. It came quickly, and was hot. The tempura (two shrimps, a carrot, and a sweet potato) were crispy, light, and delicious. The salad had the classic carrot ginger dressing I love so much. The negimaki was good, the sauce was not too sweet, and the veggies and california roll all tasted great.I would absolutely order here again, the price was reasonable and the food was delicious.”

“I only recently learned that this tapas bar existed in Middletown’s Main Street Market, and I’m so glad that I visited! They had a huge menu with choices to fit anyone’s preferences. Highlights for us were the paella, croquettes, and even the Brussels salad because it had such a great truffle flavor! Their drinks were fantastic - we’re still talking about the Barbie one we had in a unique glass! Definitely save room for the delicious chocolate strawberry cake for dessert. Loved the ambiance, and our server was professional and attentive!”

“I used to come from wallingford to purchase food from this restaurant. Everything was fresh, shrimp rolls, spring rolls excellent, the cabbage used was actually green, so it was fresh! All meals were excellent quality. I haven't been there in years so I can't say if the menu is the same quality as before.”

I believe Back Again Cafe proves itself to be a great central hub location to meet friends, dates, and family for great snacks, drinks, and games! My friends and I like to meet to play MTG. Friendly and helpful staff, and a terrific space with high ceilings and large windows for people watching.”

“Salsa's 3 catered our NYE party this year. Talon goes here for lunch all the time and we love Salsa's. We are overwhelmed with how great the catering is! We knew the food would be great because it always is. But they worked with us on portions when we got our headcount. This saved us money and allowed us to buy a greater number of items. Ignore the online catering menu and go in and talk to them since they will break anything down to a half tray and really help you have a great event. Super impressed, 100% recommend and we will of course go back time and time again!”
“I usually love their pizza but I would recommend going there in person for it or double checking it lately. Ordering online doesn't work since its hard to customize pizzas and ots a 10 minute longer wait minimum. We got 2 pizzas for pick up ordered over the phone. 1st the girl was handling more than one phone at a time so not really knowing if we had her full attention. 2nd we ordered the oozy egg no proscute with an extra egg instead. there was no proscute but also no extra egg and the eggs were on only half the pizza. my hubby asked for a side of red pepper flakes they gave him .5oz, kind of stingy. the 2 pizzas came to $38+ and at that price they could at least pay attention and get the order right. Even if they might have been busy, at least do a quality check or read the order back to the customer so it is right.”

That is an awesome option. You can also add egg. “Went here when I was a young kid years ago, and after the brothers sold it, it went downhill for a while until they closed for remodeling, and lol they must have remodeled their food too because it’s one of the best Italian places I know of now!Everything from their pizza to calzones and meals are delicious. Had the eggplant Parmesan tonight and there was definitely enough to feed two people. It had a ton of delicious eggplant and a beautiful melted layer of mozzarella on top. And you get a side salad and 3 huge garlic knots. Their prices are more than fair for the price quality of the food you’re getting.The staff there is amazing as well. They sound like they actually care and are very polite and welcoming. When ordering over the phone a lot of these places sound like they dont care about your business, but pizza palace is the exact opposite.”
“Esca is a bustling spot in Middletown. I started the meal with a burrata salad and arancini. Both of these were delicious. For my main course I got the duck breast. The skin had a beautiful salt crust and perfectly whipped mashed potatoes. I would highly recommend this to anyone that is looking for some delicious Italian food. Quite delicious.”

They all loved it and I was pleasantly surprised on how cute the cheesecake was decorated with a cute pawprint and holiday festive decos on the side. The restaurant was very clean. The staff were very polite and greeted me and another customer when we walked in. I ordered 12 jumbo wings with 6 of them in lemon pepper rub and the other 6 in Cajun rub. The wings were cooked perfectly cooked and juicy. The Cajun could've been a bit more spicy but still delicious all the same. Great wing spot.”

I got a Jamaican beef patty and the pulled pork sandwich which were both soooo good and flavorful. The pulled pork practically melted in my mouth. It was so delicious, and also very filling. I was only able to eat one half at a time and saved the other half for leftovers. The sandwich came with a bunch of thick steak fries, which were also super filling, I couldn’t even finish those either. I probably ate about 1/3 of what they gave me before I was full.I’m not sure what the one star reviews are talking about, I feel like I got more than enough food for the price. “It's Only Natural is a great little grocery store on Main Street in Middletown. It's small, but this might be a one stop shop, if it just wasn't so expensive. There's everything in this store, organic produce, juices, vitamins and supplements, chocolate and candy I've never seen before, they even have a little section where you can get a fresh smoothie or a sandwich. There's an area where you can sit with your food.They even have a post office in this little grocery store.But it is expensive.. a box of cereal is $7.49, and it's not even a large box. They had a 5 pound jar of local honey for $50.00. I stopped in to pick up some crackers for my guacamole, I picked some really nice ones for only $3.29, but half the bag was air. This is not the fault of the store of course. It's a lot of fun to walk through a store where everything looks new, and innovative. If you're in the area stop by, always shop smart, not impulsively.”

“I visited the Usdan University Center for lunch at the Davison Family Commons. The meeting was to gather with a student group. We were a party of three and arrived at about 12:10. From my visit it was not clear whether it is only open to Wesleyan community and their guests, or if others from the public can eat there as well. It certainly appears it caters to the Wesleyan community. There was a staff member handling cashiering. One pays before entering the buffet style dining. The staff was helpful in determining g an appropriate form of payment for our group, which did end up being determined from my position at the University for a sponsored club meeting and was covered by my department. Prices were not posted so it actually wasn't clear how much it cost.Whereas the downstairs dining options are more cafeteria style, this is more like a restaurant. The food is set up along two tables against two walls in a small hallway. One thus passes down the hall collecting the food. The options for lunch included a tofu in sauce, some rice, what looked like pulled pork but was made with chicken, and one other vegetable dish. There was also a typical salad bar with chopped vegetables and a selection of dry toppings. I chose Romaine lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, and sesame sticks. I do like shredded cheese which was absent, and the toppings were less extensive than some salad bars. Nevertheless, the variety was certainly adequate to make a healthy salad. There were about 5 dressing choices. I selected Balsamic. I tasted each of each hot dishes too.Other foods available were fresh apples and bananas, and sliced dinner rolls. There were also packaged granola and cereal bars and a few baked goods for dessert such as cookies and raspberry tarts. Beverages were served in self serve pitchers. There was lemonade and a few other cold choices.I had hoped for water but didn't see any. They were all marked. As I am sensitive to artificial sweeteners, I had hoped for ingredients. It did taste like there was artificial sugar so I did not drink much. Water or regular soda would have been perfect options which I did not find. Students had their water bottles which I'd probably do next time. I also noticed hot coffee and tea options in the seating area on a table to the side.The setup of the buffet was pretty effective but tended to suppose one would want either salad or hot food as they were on separate tables across from each other but the flow should be one way. I wanted to sample both which meant I went against the flow when switching to the other table. It was suboptimal but really not an issue as there were not too many other guests. I felt the serving style was reasonably sanitary for a self serve option.The seating area is self serve. The tables were quite fancy for on campus dining, with white table cloths and dressings such as napkins, salt and pepper. Most were for 4 people a day thete were about 16 set up. There were about 4 tables occupied, both by pairs and someone was dining alone while reading. The view to the Arrigoni Bridge and the Connecticut River are quite scenic. Being in fall on a sunny day, it was pleasant surroundings. There is also a veranda with small 2 person wooden outdoor seating tables. This was unfortunately closed probably due to the onset of cooler weather but it is open seasonally in warmer weather.Overall it was a quite nice experience for meeting on the Wesleyan campus. It is convenient and more classy than a cafeteria. This would be an ideal place to for example bring visiting coworkers if you do not want to go to Main Street. The staff is helpful and friendly. For me the parts to improve would be clear posting about payment options for those who are not on a university meal plan, and offering plain water and or clearly marked non diet soft drink options.”
“Recently popped in during an event, and tried their pineapple and kiwi cider, which knocked my socks off. Wish they sold cans because I definitely would’ve bought a four pack. “One word: AMAZING!! We ordered takeout from Tandoor a few days ago and my family is still raving about how good the food was! We were greeted with incredible customer service over the phone as we asked many questions about the menu. We also learned that the restaurant is under new ownership and 100% Halal. We ordered multiple dishes from the Indo-Chinese menu and were absolutely blown away by the incredible taste. Everything was seasoned to perfection and not oily at all! The portion sizes were larger than we expected which was a huge delight! We were savoring every bite as we were engulfed in a world of flavor which was true and authentic to the South Asian taste palette. We also noticed the nice serene ambience of the restaurant itself when we went to go pick up the food; great spot for date night or a meal with the family! All in all, we highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for great South Asian cuisine in central Connecticut! “Mikado is usually my go-to for sushi, especially if I want to have things besides the sushi, too. My friend and I went on a Saturday night recently to celebrate our birthdays from the month before. I like the ambience. The booths are pretty private. You have to walk down a flight of steps and it feels like you're not even in downtown Middletown. The menu is extensive. Almost too big. Despite this, I've never had something I didn't love at Mikado. They've done everything well so far. The service is great, good portions and a variety of options.”

“I happened upon this place by chance. I was out driving Lyft and I dropped off a passenger next door and I saw the sign so I turned off my app to check out this restaurant. The restaurant was very clean. The staff were very polite and greeted me and another customer when we walked in. I ordered 12 jumbo wings with 6 of them in lemon pepper rub and the other 6 in Cajun rub. The wings were cooked perfectly cooked and juicy. The Cajun could've been a bit more spicy but still delicious all the same. Great wing spot.”

“I usually love their pizza but I would recommend going there in person for it or double checking it lately. Ordering online doesn't work since its hard to customize pizzas and ots a 10 minute longer wait minimum. We got 2 pizzas for pick up ordered over the phone. 1st the girl was handling more than one phone at a time so not really knowing if we had her full attention. 2nd we ordered the oozy egg no proscute with an extra egg instead. there was no proscute but also no extra egg and the eggs were on only half the pizza. my hubby asked for a side of red pepper flakes they gave him .5oz, kind of stingy. the 2 pizzas came to $38+ and at that price they could at least pay attention and get the order right. Even if they might have been busy, at least do a quality check or read the order back to the customer so it is right.”

“Went with some friends… 3 adults and 1 toddler. Seating is comfortable and they have high chairs for the kids. Pros: Service was great a very friendly staff. The food was amazing and fresh! Highly recommended. Everything was so fresh and presented nice on the plates. Cons: food took over an hour to get to our table- they seem to have a good pick up/carry out orders which could be why it takes awhile. If you are all adults and have time to relax then it’s perfect- if you have kids I recommend you order take out.”

The variety on their menu is impressive, especially how they incorporated so many vegetarian and vegan options into the mix! Their Buffalo chicken grilled cheese was one of my favorites because it tasted exactly like Buffalo chicken dip! I also really liked the signature "Melted Madness" which had a layer of melted cheese on the outside of the bread! All of the appetizers we tried were delicious, and I was glad to see the majority of them were made in house. Great milkshakes and seltzers, and save room for their sweet grilled cheeses or knafeh for dessert. The owner was welcoming and we noticed how she took extra time to talk with customers, and her staff was just as friendly. The food came out quickly, and I just loved the vibe of the place with the walls even looking like melted cheese. Literally a cheese paradise!”
