“A really one of a kind restaurant in New Haven with the kind of freshness that makes you feel like you're stuffing your face in aunty's parlor while she insists you eat more. Intimate space, it can get pretty busy on Friday night so try to be mindful of the staff who are trying to get everyone seated and fed in a timely manner.Strongly recommend the soups and the hand pulled noodles. Would definitely eat here again!P.s - cash preferred“
“I’ve been going to the Asian restaurant for many years. Their food is not like a lot of other fast food, Asian restaurants. The food is very fresh and flavorful, not greasy or heavy as some Asian food can be. Being Vegan I order Mapo tofu with hibachi rice. The tofu is so flavorful you can get it mild to spicy.. The portion is big enough for two people to split.Off street parking. Wheelchair accessible. Kid friendly. Inside seating only.Dietary restrictions: When ordering they say to ask if need be for questions regarding dietary restrictions. They can at times make adjustments for gluten intolerance, dairy or no allergies..“
“We went not knowing soft opening. Food and staff was absolutely amazing. Highly recommend.Dietary restrictions: It was my daughters 18th birthday. There are no GF items on dessert menu which she was fine with.. but they took the time to create a dessert for her birthday and sing. I cannot say enough“
“Mikado is usually my go-to for sushi, especially if I want to have things besides the sushi, too. My friend and I went on a Saturday night recently to celebrate our birthdays from the month before. I like the ambience. The booths are pretty private. You have to walk down a flight of steps and it feels like you're not even in downtown Middletown. The menu is extensive. Almost too big. Despite this, I've never had something I didn't love at Mikado. They've done everything well so far. The service is great, good portions and a variety of options.“
“We came in for lunch on a holiday so there were not many people in the restaurant. Each of us ordered something different. My chicken lo mein was delicious and the portion was quite large. My husband had several sushi rolls which were fresh and delicious. One of my sons got the hibachi lunch and loved it. My other son got a teriyaki bento box. This was his first time trying sushi and he loved it as well. The waitstaff was friendly and extremely kind. We will definitely be backKid-friendliness: They offered my kids “cheater chopsticks”, my younger son got “the world’s coolest bendy straw”, on our way out they asked him if he’d like a balloon, then blew up the cutest foil dinosaur balloon.“
“I had an exceptional dining experience at this restaurant. The culinary offerings were exquisite, complemented by a delightful atmosphere and attentive staff. The freshness of the food truly stood out. My companions and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit and look forward to returning. Without hesitation, I will be recommending Ikura to others. Thank you for providing a truly wonderful dining experience!“
“Pros: Nice selection of menu options. Drinks were very good. Sashimi was fresh. Table was clean. Nice decor and ambiance.Cons: The hibachi room wasn't open. A couple of things I ordered weren't available. Food/check took a little while to come “
“Had dinner as takeout for the first time under new owners. The food was delicious. As good as with the previous owners which is High Praise. The only caveat I have is they no longer have brown rice. I love Brown rice! But overall, I'm still very pleased with the new owners“
“Stopped in for lunch on a Saturday and was greeted and seated immediately. The menu caters to vegan as well as meat lovers. The food is absolutely delicious. A small space authentically decorated with Tibetan decor. Highly recommend visiting!!“
