Pink Basil came through in a major way. From the moment I walked in the atmosphere was buzzing with energy, families locals and tourists all enjoying the Village vibe. The food the service and the whole experience had me locked in from start to finish. By the end of this meal there was no question… this one goes down as a Big Al’s 💎 Gem Spot. Service & Atmosphere: The service here was absolutely top notch. My host Payton got me started right. My server Mark handled everything perfectly... attentive professional and just an all around wonderful guy. Flora also stepped in with great support and I even got a photo with Travis the bartender. Behind the sushi counter two chefs were working hard and delivered rolls that blew me away. The whole team made this meal stand out. “Oriental Bar and Grill is tucked behind another building in Connecticut in a way that makes it genuinely easy to miss from the road. The exterior is intriguing, with waterfalls and small ponds with koi fish out front.

The interior is large and classically decorated, the kind of dining room that was built to handle volume without feeling like a cafeteria. The koi fish out front have a quarter machine nearby that dispenses food, which is a small detail that tends to land well if you are visiting with kids. The overall setup is comfortable and well maintained, and the space gives the restaurant a presence that most Chinese restaurants in the area do not match.

The dim sum is the main draw and it is served until 3pm, so timing your visit accordingly is important. The har gow and shumai are well executed and hold up against what you would find at comparable restaurants in Boston or New York. The chili oil is good and worth using liberally. The shrimp wonton noodle soup is a standout and worth ordering on its own. For those coming outside dim sum hours the full menu covers a solid range of Cantonese dishes. The fried rice, salt and pepper squid, fish filet in chili oil, and chow fun all perform well, and the portions throughout are generous enough that ordering with a group and sharing makes the most sense.

On quieter days the food quality is noticeably more consistent. For good dim sum in Connecticut and a Cantonese dining room that takes the food seriously, it is worth the effort of finding.“

“Absolutely LOVE Dev's On Main. The small plates menu is fabulous with many different and delicious items to choose from. Toasted goat cheese was heavenly, as was the shrimp cacio e pepe and the mongolian beef is a favorite. Main dishes were expertly prepared and have never disappointed. Fish and chips, citrus chicken, and the cod were outstanding. Cocktails were delicious as well. Service is warm and friendly. The atmosphere is fun and simple so it's easy to relax and enjoy a delicious meal. We have come here several times and always enjoy it.“

“Some of the best picture perfect Chinese food I’ve ever had! The pork and shrimp wonton soup had actual homemade wontons and was very delicious. The general tso chicken was crispy and very flavorful the best I’ve ever had. Can’t wait to return. Side note the portions are massive and in turn the prices are a bit up there but you definitely get what you pay for so go with a group of people.“

“I took my wife and kids there for my wife's birthday. Worst experience we've ever had at a hibachi. Extremely over priced to start with. The cooking part was awful. There was no vegetable toss even though they were prepared and ready on the cart. The cook also did not do the sake part or offer water for the kids. The food had a very bland taste to it . The server never even checked on us we had to get their attention to get a glass of water. My wife was extremely disappointed and so we're our kids. I asked to speak with the manager, and was told our chef was the manager. Overall it was a very disappointing experience and would not recommend.“
