Beautiful comfortable bar area, great parking, cozy tables with warm decor. Tables not crowded. Acoustics were great. Service is EXCELLENT. Like European service. Thank you Stella Doro for keeping it classy and Euro typical. Good food too.

Despite having a 7:00 reservation, we had to wait 25 minutes for a table. They had to move some customers to another table to get our ready. We waited more than a half hour for two cokes and two glasses of wine. And from the time of our actual reservation, it took two hours until we actually were served our food (which thankfully was very good). The lighting in the restaurant kept going from dim to bright, bright to dim. It was super annoying. Apparently they had overbooked tables this evening. For a restaurant that has been in business so long they should know better. The table next to us had waited over an hour to be seated. We had somewhere else to be so had to eat our food rather quickly. Was not the way I wanted to spend my evening. The waiter was very apologetic and we didn't blame him but the whole experience was really disappointing.

We had a lovely Christmas Eve family Italian dinner here. It was quaint, delicious and delightful... parking lot in the back was easy access, the specials were varied and service was prompt. I had the Chilean Sea Bass (Italian style) and it was OUTSTANDING! So much so I sought out the chef to tell him. Highly recommend this place but make reservations as seating is limited! One of Middletown hidden gems for sure.

You feel the classic Italian restaurant environment as you walk in. The menu has plenty of variety. The food was excellent. I ate the Scallop & Shrimp fra Diavolo, my wife had the Cavatelli and she loved it. The staff is very attentive and friendly. We had a great time and will definitely be back.

I had made a reservation for 5 a week prior to the dinner I had last night, and as soon as we arrived there were no signs of a reserved table for us. Instead we were SQUEEZED into a table for 4 that had no elbow room at the booth and it was incredibly hard to get up or sit down without knocking both your table and another table. I was given an apology by the host but it was frustrating to see other customers being accommodated and we were not when I had a reservation. While the food was jaw droppingly good - the best Italian I had in Middletown - I was not given a dessert that was ordered and I asked for my food to be boxed up and to my surprise, when I got home, my food was not in the bag placed at the table. The service was lacking at this place for a Saturday night. As a paying customer, to not have 60% of my meal wrapped up to enjoy at home is frustrating, and having things my family ordered forgotten is not a great feeling when you are paying for the service. While the staff was pleasant, they lacked in providing a special evening for a special occasion. I recommend for a casual dinner, not for a special occasion unless you want things to not go as planned. Quite disappointing.

There was 5 of us and our meals were delicious and portions very generous . The shrimp scampi, chicken florentine, rigatoni Stella Doro with chicken or shrimp impressed.

In November 2025 my husband and I had a delicious 5 star meal at Stella D'Oro. We just returned from an incredible trip to Italy and found quality Italian food just minutes from our home! What made the evening exceptional was the quiet, romantic setting and also our amazing waiter. Esmir was friendly and very accommadating. We highly recommend Stella D'oro in Middletown CT!
Great atmosphere and all three of us were extremely happy with the food. Our waiter was even part of the ambiance.

Had a wonderful dinner here celebrating my son's birthday. Fine Italian dining at its best! There were 6 of us and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Fresh ingredients cooked perfectly. The veal was outstanding; as was the lobster ravioli. Portions were generous; desserts were delicious. Service was attentive and professional; yet we never felt rushed. A hidden gem in Middletown; don't miss it!

The restaurant was quiet for mid-week dinner. Service was excellent and the food was delicious. The bartender Esmere makes the best martinis. This is one if our favorite restaurants in Middletown. LOVED IT!!!

We had a lovely experience. A little bit of a wait, but so worth it. The food is freshly made to order and it taste exactly that...fresh! Again, worth the wait. The tables are dressed in linen to give you a fine dining experience. The service is excellent too. Prior to this dining experience we had a party of 30 people there a few months ago and they did an excellent job! It was the party that prompt us to go back and we continue to go back. Excellent Food, Excellent service, Excellent place to dine!
