It said family dining on google. We got there and they had no high chairs. I think the two they had were being used across from us. Everyone had their babies on their lap in the dining room. The kids were yelling because they didn’t want to be held. No butter came with the steamers, our server had tables inside and outside and looked like he was doing the work of 15 people. Our dinners were tasty but we didn’t get to enjoy them because by that time our toddler was trying to escape the establishment since she was not in a high chair. Leave your kids at home this is NOT for families.

This was our 2nd trip to Tates. our 1st visit was shortly after they opened and chalked the slow service and mediocre food up to them not being 100% ready with how busy they would be. Tonight after a year later and not even being at 75% capacity it somehow got even worse. we showed up to being told they shut the kitchen down to catch up. Ordered drinks at the bar from their menu that frankly tasted like cough syrup. After finally being seated it sadly got worse. Tuna Nachos miserably under dressed after asking for a side of the sauce it came after we finished them. $37 Lobster Rolls again under seasond. Chicken salad sandwich was so salty it was inedible. Any time we mentioned anything staff was defensive rather than apologetic. 2nd trip will certainly be our last which is very disappointing because they are truly sitting on a gold mine with this location.

Went to tates after a 5k race and the service and food were outstanding, drinks were delicious and creative. It is centrally located in CT and we are looking forward to getting together for a Friendsgiving this week with those all over the state, highly recommend checking it out!!

I went with a large group for Tates first brunch on Sunday and nobody had a bad word to say. The drinks were great and so was the food! The service was top notch and I never felt like we weren’t taken care of even on a busy Sunday morning. Definitely the new go to brunch spot in Middletown!

Food is absolutely amazing love the big portions and the price is phenomenal the service is great kindness and friendly and the atmosphere is amazing like the service is we always sit outside the heaters they add are amazing for the weather you don't need to bundle up here! Highly recommended A+++++

I was excited to try this place because of their Instagram and the patio. I went on a nice, sunny day and it was packed inside and out. There was no wait time, which was nice. Drinks were pretty good, not too stiff. The food was pretty disappointing. I got the eggrolls which I was most excited for and it was so bland and I didn't really taste the shrimp and crab. I mostly tasted unseasoned cabbage. I also got the whole belly clams which were pretty good, fries were a bit lacking and I expected more for $29. I do recommend the tuna nachos.

I had a watermelon margarita and the Gorgonzola steak. They were delicious! Will definitely come back again for that reason but our server was awful. I’d tell you his name but he never shared it and it wasn’t on the receipt. We had no issues at all during our visit but the server had a really bad attitude towards us.

The food and drinks are incredible!!! For sure coming back!
Went during the summer and sat outside. It was quiet and perfect to enjoy the water view and sunshine. The food was okay- nothing spectacular. Probably something that I could get anywhere else that it’s offered. The lobster roll was a little dry but tasted okay. The cocktails were pretty good. They were pretty busy so we had to wait a bit for service but everyone was friendly and it was such a nice sunny day so waiting wasn’t a big problem.

Sat at a small table and they said no service at that table, so I said ok I’ll order at the bar. Then at the bar they said I couldn’t take any food to that table it was their policy. Stupid policy it was the only table available. They need to reconsider their stupid policy.

I had some time in between an appointment and a meetup yesterday, so I stopped in for a small meal and a drink. Bryan, the waiter was the best! Very kind and attentive. I ordered the ahi tuna nachos and it was incredible! The food was delicious and reasonably priced, and the service was quick! I sat on the back patio and had the most amazing view of the Connecticut River. The experience made my day.
