What do you think of when the subject of Mexican food comes up? I spent a lot of time in New Mexico, so for me Mexican food conjures up memories of the restaurants I loved in Albuquerque and Santa Fe. The Mexican food there is derived from a mixture of many cultures - Spanish, Mexican, Native American, and more recently transplanted Americans. It is more commonly referred to as Southwestern food, and that is the kind of Mexican food I love. We're talking enchilada's, chili rellenos and burritos smothered in the most delicious cheese and sauces, nothing like what you can expect to get in New England. And hot? yes, certainly. These dishes are almost always accompanied by Spanish rice and refried beans. If you've ever smelled authentic Southwestern food, you won't ever forget it! So, Don Rene Taqueria serves some very tasty tacos and enchiladas, priced reasonably. If you've never been to the Southwest, you are probably going to be happy eating here. The menu is very limited and focused, mostly on taco's and quesadilla's. The flavors are a cut above most other Mexican restaurants, with some nice herbs and subtle flavors. It's worth a visit for sure. This is not Taco Bell, so if you're looking to gorge yourself on cheap food, you won't be satisfied here.

Sweet service. Menu had a good variety, vegetarian friendly for sure. Only disappointment was the pork belly taco with kimchi, I was expecting crispy pork belly, but it tasted just like toasted pork.

Some of the best tacos iv ever had. Also, very inexpensive compared to other places around. Would recommend to everyone.

Clean, simple, delicious, and quick! Fantastically prepared food that comes out quicker than you think. Pleasant wait staff and a week designed menu make this an easy choice for lunch or dinner.

We stopped here after a movie for dinner. This place is a tiny spot with limited seating available and noticed a lot of takeouts going out the door. For tacos, I got the Baja Fish which was very bland and disappointing. However, the salad and quesadilla made up for it. The salad was fresh plain and easy. It's on point for $7. The highlight of the visit is the Tres Leches cake. It is my most favorite. It was soft, fresh and very well presented. I'd just consider this place again for the cake.

Tonight was our first time trying Don Rene Taqueria on the green in Milford for takeout. All our food was delicious and fresh. We tried the Spicy Beef Empanadas, Rib Eye Quesadillas, Carnitas and Pork Belly taco for dinner. The Empanadas were crisp and full of flavor. Both taco choices were excellent and loaded with tasty toppings. The Rib Eye Quesadilla was delicious. We will definitely be back to this little gem in Downtown Milford!

I'm from California where taco places are authentic and abundant. It is so refreshing to find this hidden gem in Milford. So happy to have this deliciousness on the east coast!

Wow! I Highly recommend this place! They say on their website that they source fresh ingredients from local farmers markets. You can tell. The food is excellent! The beef birria taco was amazing! The chicken adobado was so good! There were so many flavors mixed together. You also get three really good sauces so there's even more flavors. Some of their food is Nuevo Mexican, but there's traditional dishes too. I would return to try more things, and t order the beef birria taco again. Service was good. You can sit inside or outside by the green. It's street parking but easy to find and it's free. They deserve their 5 star reviews.

Taqueria is becoming a popular name for Mexican restaurants.Taqueria means Tacos in general. This place is unique with a different type of tacos like carnitas ( pork) adobo chicken or birria tacos. Their flavors that they add to the food are delicious. Definitely I will back for more birria tacos. Their drinks are delicious too. Great Service

This unassuming place is hidden in plain sight and really worth finding. Their burritos are amazing and, in just one word, delicious. They are also huge, so you definitely won't leave hungry ... and probably with half of your burrito, which you'll enjoy as your next meal.

Incredbile selection of tacos with fresh ingredients and tasty combinations. Amazing desserts and homemade fruit drinks round out a satisfying and affordable meal. Their small plates are also delicious. The wait staff is beyond friendly and the owner will stop by and say hello also. Think Bodega or Barcelona in Fairfield without the hipster crowd and attitude. Sit outside and enjoy the sights of downtown. Best kept secret in Milford!

If I could give this restaurant 10 stars I would! I'm shocked they have received anything less. The food was the freshest I literally have ever eaten. My husband and I shared 2 small plates (empanadas & Brussels sprouts) and they were to die for. We each had 3 tacos and they were amazing. We ended dinner with 2 delicious desserts. They also make these amazing fresh juices daily on site. You absolutely get what you pay for. Only downside (if you can call it that) is that it's BYOB.

A great family owned spot located in the center of town! Visited my family over the weekend and was starving my the time I arrived to Milford, luckily I stopped by Don Rene on the way home for a yummy lunch and it did not disappoint! Here's what we got: - Guac and chips - Esquites - Shrimp taco - Birria taco - Quesadilla Everything was absolutely amazing! Authentic, and made with love. The service was immaculate. Jerusalem, our server was so welcoming and treated us with so much care. The rest of the staff is equally as friendly and the overall energy is just great. The birria tacos are a must! Cookes to perfection, they're definitely something to get if you're very hungry because they're pretty filling! We saved some room for dessert and got the churros, accompanied by dulce de leche + chocolate sauce... literally perfection! Can't wait to visit this spot next time I'm in town!

When here for a quite bite on a Saturday evening. There is street parking. I went inside to place an order and there a some tables inside and there are about three tables outside of the restaurant. I wanted some tacos and I ordered two chicken tacos and a fish tacos. They charge for each taco. The tacos were delicious. They gave me three sauces a pico, a yellow sauce and then a spicy salsa. This place was good.
