The food served is good but menu is very sparse. Presentation is minimalist. This 2 sided plastic card is not a typical diner menu in any sense. Management changes a few years ago have impacted overall appeal..
Fish dishes largely absent. Eggs scrambled are fluffy enhanced. Recommend wraps, melts, chopped sirloin dinner. Burgers ok, salads much reduced in size from times past.
Customer here for many, many years past and have found much better Diner venues to visit frequently, tho still visit on rare occasions for its proximity to home. Check hours of operation, closes early.

The food is SOOOOO good! Just about everything is homemade here. You come once, you’ll always come. And the staff is very kind.

Food was great! But the orange juice was $7 which is a little insane. Other then that, pretty great

I had the pleasure of dining at Monroe Diner in Monroe, CT, and I must say, the experience was delightful from start to finish. The highlight of my meal was the Monroe Sampler, which featured perfectly fluffy pancakes, expertly cooked eggs, crispy bacon, and savory sausage. Each component was cooked to perfection, creating a harmonious and satisfying breakfast that left me full and content. The friendly and attentive service, combined with the warm and inviting atmosphere, made my visit truly enjoyable. Monroe Diner is a gem that I would highly recommend to anyone seeking a delicious and hearty meal.

Everyone needs to try the cinnamon swirl pancake at least once in their life.
It tastes like a cinnabon and I even went back the next day for another round.

Sorry to say but We used to love this place: food and decor a notch above a typical diner at a really good price. However, they seem to have gone downhill. They stopped offering their salad Caprese with grilled chicken which we loved so I ordered their Caesar salad. The Caesar came with absolutely no croutons and the shaved Parmesan was also MIA - instead, it was grated Parmesan, like you get in the shelf stable aisle of a grocery store. Poor rendition of a classic and three notches down from what it used to be.

We have been long time customers of Monroe Diner and I am sad to write this review. Since Covid, food quality has declined and they have drastically shortened their menu and hours leaving it a shell of what it once was.
The cooks seem to have lost their desire to create good "Diner" food. Diner staples like home fried potatoes and real "Diner" french fries are gone, replaced by frozen greasy hash browns and hard shoe string fries ... both are served still white and barely cooked. The chicken used in sandwiches seems precooked and tough. The chocolate cream pie is often beyond its best date, having dried out/tough edges. The cheesecake is mushy and underbaked. Pancakes have a burnt grill taste to them. Eggs are always way undercooked. The turkey on the club sandwich is overly thick and dry and the bacon is cold and rubbery.
True "Diners" are supposed to be opened late. The Monroe Diner hours are ridiculous for a Diner, let alone a restaurant. Monroe Diner closes at 8, way before most restaurants in the area. And when showing up at 7 or 7:30 to eat dinner, you are greeted by a warning from the hostess that the kitchen is closing soon. Not very welcoming. Gone are the days of, "Let's hop in the car and go to Monroe Diner for a cheeseburger with fries or a dessert" after an evening out.
I want to see this Diner do well and hope my review spurs positive change. Folks, the pandemic is over. Time to behave like a real Diner with expanded hours and food options. Or, change your name to Monroe Luncheonette.

Grew up in Monroe, and reunited with childhood friends today from various states. We immediately chose our old haunt, the Monroe Diner, as our meeting place. It's a new building, but the same great Monroe food and feeling we had in the 70s. We'll be back again, hopefully before not as many years!!

Ordered what specifically said chicken tender and fry meal for my son and ordered the tuna melt for myself with no tomato on whole wheat bread My son got mitch-matched chicken tenders some tasted good the new kind they're switching to he couldn't eat and then when we got the bill she charged us each separately for the chicken tenders and fries the same with my tuna melt that's supposed to come with fries when I mentioned this to her she said no they don't come together they're separate but on the menu they're not, won't be eating here again, $38 for chicken tender and fries and tuna melt and fries I go to diners all over the state this is usually 20 to $25 tops don't know how they come up with 40 but I guess everybody needs to eat so to speak
