I am half Japanese and constantly searching for quality seafood. I also used to fish a lot, so I am very picky about the quality of my fish. There were two go to places (stamford and Norwalk) that were large purveyors that primarily supply restaurants but and had a small retail area. For years, those places where my go to place however the quality seems to have dropped and I’m traveling less so I was searching for a more local place.
I tried this place more than 15 years ago and was not impressed. However, a few months ago, I decided to give it another chance and it was a pleasant surprise. I’ve been back four or five times since. I am very happy with the quality of fish. The staff are always pleasant and patient. I haven’t ordered their hot pre-made food however I’ve tried some of their soups some I like a lot some are OK I think that’s a matter of taste. Their other stuff like calamari salad, and the whitefish salad are really good. They also have a random selection of Middle Eastern treats. They’re often very high-quality.
If you’re looking for quality seafood that you can get locally, I can highly recommend this place.

I’m new to the area and was hoping to find a good seafood market and very happy I found Monroe Fish Market. The wild salmon was delicious and very affordable. And very friendly staff. Looking forward to returning.

I went there today for a New Years Eve dinner meal . I purchased lobster / shrimp and Maryland Crab cakes . I cooked everything at home and everything was great. These fish markets are far and few cause of big box supermarkets. Don’t pass this place up . Shop small businesses
