We picked this place to pick up food for a picnic lunch on the water due to the great reviews but ended up being super disappointed. My husband and I split a poke bowl and it was flavorless and oddly grainy. I couldn't even finish it, even though the tuna was really fresh. the fritters also had no flavor and my son who LOVES shrimp wouldn't eat the shrimp cocktail. Not sure if they were having an off day but just a heads up if you're looking for something truly special and delicious for your one day in mystic, this wasn't it for us.

Definitely miss youngbun doughnuts but off the hook fills that void in my life. The fish tacos were so crispy and full of flavor. The poke bowl had giant chunks of fresh tuna with great flavor as well. Cannot recommend enough.

We had an order of two hot lobsters rolls, clam fritters and a bowl of NE clam chowder. The lobster rolls were packed with fresh lobster and the bread was super fresh and toasted with butter on both sides. The clam fritters were supposed to be loaded with clam bits but that was not the case. There were scant little pieces but they were few and far between. The NE Clam chowder was also supposed to be loaded with bits of clam and bacon but it was nothing more than potato chowder. The lobster rolls were amazing but I would not order the clam chowder or the fritters again.

The food was amazing and the servers were friendly. There's not much seating, tables are limited to bar height and only 4 people per table. If it's not too hot it would definitely be worth getting it to go and eating outside. We'll definitely be back!

It's too bad that my favorite doughnut store has been gone at that spot. But, The new casual seafood restaurant will be my new favorite. Staffs are very kind and professional. It is also clean and well organized. Parking is not easy, specially during the weekend.

Our first visit to “Off The Hook by J & R Seafood” in Mystic , CT was 6/13/2025. We ordered the ‘Lobster Roll Flight’. Hands down the BEST lobster rolls we’ve ever eaten to-date. Each order included hot lobster, cold lobster and tempura spicy mayo lobster with toasted buttery rolls. Our favorite of the three was the tempura spicy mayo roll. To die for! Yum!!! We’ll be back.
