I was in the mood for some good tacos this afternoon so dropped into a Spot located in the Village of Mystic, CT that a few fans strongly suggested I visit. The atmosphere of Taquerio is pretty cool because it was originally a full service gas station that has been converted to a restaurant with so much outdoor seating. The two large garage doors were open on this beautiful sunny day so I sat outside and enjoyed the weather.
I walked into Taquerio hungry and my Server Mallory who was cool, provided me with great service and She suggested that I try a few different tacos so I agreed and ordered:
1. Nachos with Carnitas $19.00 👍🏾
2. BBQ Pulled Pork Taco $6.00 👍🏾
3. Buffalo Chicken Taco $6.00 👎🏾🤢
4. Baja Fish Taco $6.00 👍🏾
When 'Big Al's Reel Reviews' drops into a spot there are three basic principles to earning a good review, the spot has to provide a great atmosphere, great service and of course GREAT FOOD. Amitedly I was feeling pretty generous today because I gave 3 thumbs 👍🏾 to 4 items because they all tasted ok but unfortunately the tacos are very small and to make it worse there was very little meat in them. At $6 they should not be skimping on the protein! A Thumbs 👎🏾 went to the Buffalo Chicken Taco because it was absolutely disgusting. There was barely ANY chicken but loaded with buffalo sauce. The food at Taquerio is just basic and "ok"
I honestly would not recommend Taquerio to my friends and family but I would say that it is worth visiting once to enjoy the atmosphere, the service and I hear they have great drinks 🤷🏾♂️ but I will not return to this spot because there are far better & Authentic Taco spots in the area
(💎Taqueria in Groton, CT comes to mind❤️) There is no need to drive deep into Mystic for $6 "meatless" tacos. But decide for yourself and IF you do go, make sure to tell em that 'Big Al Mayo' sent you to ENSURE that your tacos are properly filled with meat unlike mine were 😉 🤷🏾♂️

The service here is the fastest I’ve ever experienced at any restaurant, it makes fast food(even Chick-Fil-A) look slow.
For New England it’s pretty good Mexican food, definitely better than most but obviously not as good as you’d get down south or out west.
That being said, the food was hot, tasty, service was quick & friendly, I just wish they had a bit more/better parking but the only reason that was even a struggle is they were packed full at 3pm on a Friday!
The mini Christmas village decorations out front were a special treat too!
Parking: Parking lot could be a little bit bigger, but it’s easy to get in/out of and seems to have just enough spaces for the size of the restaurant.

Love this place. Free parking. A win in Mystic! There aren't a ton of spots, but we've always be able to park. Their tacos are interesting and delicious. Fairly priced too. The atmosphere is fun. For Christmas it is totally decked out in lights and Santa stuff. Love it!

Sooooooo gooooooood! Had chips and queso with a side of salsa verde, pastor, barbacoa, fried plantain and mushroom tacos, and a churro milkshake. Chips and queso get a 2; on every scale except out of 2. Yellow chips are sub par to begin with and the queso was too thick. Nasty chips overpowered the queso and salsa. Salsa verde was top notch. Tacos were all on point but the fried plantain won the cage match tonight. So good. Finished off with a churro milkshake… omg. Really cool location and the cooks make your food right behind the bar.

Great place for tacos and a wide variety of them at that very friendly staff helpful. Paid attention to my allergies. Their Margarita was a little strong. the perfect place for a variety of tacos. They have outdoor seating which was very comfortable. A few outside games which I'm sure is fun on a Friday or Saturday night with friends
