Had the chef's tasting menu with wine pairing, and while a couple pairings reinforced the dish rather than filled in the gaps (e.g., briny and acidic white wine with a scallop/lime course, which sort of blunted the main characteristics of the wine), most of them were spectacular. The dry aged duck breast and monkfish mortadella were the standout dishes for me.
I would have been happy paying 25-30% more than I did.

This was my second visit, the first one two years ago was so much better than the second one tonight 12/24/24. We were packed in like sardines. The 2024 four course Christmas menu choices were too similar, need more variation from each other. After dessert the server announced to everyone at the table how much it cost, I was mortified! I knew alcohol would be above and beyond the price of the four course meal, but it most certainly did NOT need to be announced to everybody. Extremely poor taste, what in the world is the staff at Shipwright's Daughter thinking? I spoke with the manager about this and they were not very receptive. They defended the server and really did not seem to grasp that the bill should have been handled in a typical discreet manner. I will not be returning and will let others know of my experience. I love Mystic, grew up there, and support local businesses on a regular basis. No more Shipwright's Daughter for me. Richard L. Allen

We came of the prix fixe dinner for the feast of the seven fishes and we were not disappointed. I purchased a ticket as a Christmas gift for my mom. We arrived a little early and enjoyed a drink at the bar before being seated for our meal. Everything was timed perfectly and the team was incredibly attentive from the hostess, to the bartender, to all of the waitstaff. The courses were beautifully proportioned for us to be full but not stuffed by the end. Perhaps most importantly, it allowed for an evening spent bonding and reconnecting with my mother. We are always so wrapped up in the fast pace of daily life and this was the perfect atmosphere to be able to slow down, enjoy a beautiful meal, and just BE. Thank you to everyone there for taking such beautiful care of us all. Sign me up for next year!

Atmosphere is refined casual with a long bar area and booths and tables in other rooms making it both cozy and comfortable. The color scheme is appropriately nautical. Tableware, cutlery, napkins and stemware are that of a sophisticated place which this it. Service was top notch from start to finish. It took us an age to decide on our order, but at no point did we feel rushed or pressured. Once ordered, food appeared quickly and the meal was nicely paced. The cabbage appetizer was a wonderfully tasty surprise, at least to me. Scallop crudo had a simple but very tasty dressing and the strip of crispy clam on the Beet pickled devilled eggs was a great touch. The Slipper Limpets channeled Escargot with enough toasted bread to sop up all the buttery goodness. The Beef Strip Loin was utterly divine, perfectly cooked and delicious with interesting sides. There is also a quite comprehensive wine list with some great wines at fair prices. Absolutely loved everything about the place and the food is truly special.
Everything about dining here is first rate! Seamless service, warm, intimate dining space, bartenders who excel at their craft. And the food...exceptional! Creative, delicious, using seasonal and local ingredients. I live 300 miles away, and continue to return because I dream of eating here when I'm home. Definitely a special occasion place, highly, highly recommended!
Stopped by for a nice meal with my wife. Their menu is somewhat smaller than what you may expect but the quality is above and beyond. We settled for burgers and drinks and were very pleased. The staff was equally fantastic! We’ll be back.

We wanted to come here the last time we were in Mystic last year but never made it..We came back and decided to just sit at bar and order some snacks with a craft beer...Well, we were so surprised..we ordered the monkfish "mortadella" app (Decadent!),a small escargo-esque app (Slipper limpets) (Delish!) Blistered shishitos(Delish!) and the best beet pickled egg! And the price??? At happy hour at bar snacks and drinks 1/2 price..we walked out of a James Beard Award winning Chef's restaurant with a $53 tab!!!! Crazy..def going back.. Love the cozy atmosphere.the bartender was wonderful and informative, and you can watch the kitchen from your perch.. winner winner! If you're a foodie and want to explore a culinary delight.. this is your place!
