Many restaurants will charge high prices to create an aura of quality and fine dining, only to disappoint when it comes down to eating. Shipwright's Daughter is not that place. The prices are on the high side but wow, do they deliver. Four adults, four very different entrees and everyone left with all smiles. My beef strip loin was cooked perfectly and everything that accompanied it was tasty. Some signature cocktails were discounted for the 5 - 6 pm happy hour and were, again, delicious. Our server was friendly and attentive without overtaking the conversation. If your taste buds deserve a holiday this place is worth a visit.

First time visit / Brunch -Fried oysters were very enjoyable. Traditional Benedict was okay. Bacon cooked perfectly. French toast was delicious. Cocktail and wine were good. Our server was thorough and exuberant. The experience felt slightly rushed. For context, this was Sunday brunch, and we expected an experience of leisure. However, we were asked for our order three times within minutes of taking our seats. Followed by two rounds of drinks, an appetizer, entrees, and a sip of coffee in approximately 1 hour. Finally, black coffee was ordered - it was lukewarm. I asked for a fresh brewed hot cup of coffee whereupon our server apologized and offered an americano. I explained that I really liked the flavor of the traditional brewed coffee - my only pause was the lukewarm temperature. Our server hesitated and then said, "at this time of day, I can get you an americano." So, I just spent $172.81 on brunch... but I can't have a fresh, hot cup of traditional brewed coffee at 2:41 pm. Got it!

Food adequate, service was horrible. If you want to have a good time do not go here. I was appalled at the severs and bartender. Again, do not go here for fun, so disappointed, there are many places to go that have better food and service.

Unparalleled dining experience in CTService is never overbearing but always attentive. Staff are knowledgeable on all elements of the dishes and drinks, and it's clear that they have tried every item on the menu and paid attention to how it works. They also read the customers well and make appropriate recommendations. The food is always well balanced in its profile (I enjoyed the pickled blackberries that balanced out the heavy duck mousse), and the menu items appear to be developed with care to be season appropriate (in terms of both climate and ingredients).David Standridge and his team have something special here, and I hope they get even more recognition for their approach to food and food service.

Truly the best dining experience there is. From the food to the service everything is exceptional. We came here for the first time for a birthday celebration and it instantly became our favorite restaurant. Last week, we had an intimate wedding reception in their private room after our ceremony. Our family and friends were as impressed as we have always been, everything was executed perfectly and KJ ( who happened to be our server at our first visit as well ) was wonderful. Shipwrights will always be special to my husband and I. I will continue to recommend it to anyone who is willing to listen.

We went for a business dinner to this restaurant because we heard about the James Beard Foundation semi finalist Chef. We were excited to try it out. We started with a couple apps, clam dip and the fried oysters. They were tasty but very small. The entrees were pretty good as well. The pork chop was the best. The pasta didn’t pop like I was hoping but still good. The whole fluke had good flavor and was presented very nicely. The waiter was a bit quirky and the drinks were overall not too bad. We spent a lot of money and for what we had it was worth a try again.

$38 flounder from the Mystic River - 1/2 mile over. No bread, no salad, just flounder on a plate. People are getting used to paying a lot for little food and than complimenting everybody. First and final foray to Shipwright's Daughter.

We just moved in around the corner and stopped by for brunch. Great food, nice service. The only bump was seating us amongst a bunch of tables that needed clearing when there were plenty of empty tables, not in the middle of all that. So, conversation early on was difficult as four tables were being cleared and reset right around us as we were trying to have a relaxing brunch. We'll give it another shot as it's close, by and the food was good.

We enjoyed breakfast here on a holiday Monday. I had the biscuit and it was amazing. I can make biscuits too, but these are far superior to what I make. All of the food is delicious. The setting is comfortable and upscale without being stuffy. The service is always great too. We have been here 3 times (all winter trips) and it's always a positive experience.

Met a couple of friends here for dinner on Thursday evening. Our reservation was for 5:30, I got there in time but my friends were running late. Our server Lee informed me that happy hour runs till 6pm and he was so great with checking back in as my friends got closer to make sure we could order off the happy hour menu. My friends sat down just before 6pm and Lee made sure we got a round of drinks and apps in before 6pm. On top of that dinner was excellent. Loved the atmosphere! Quite at the start of the night then lived up by the end.

Dined here for brunch with a party of four on a Sunday afternoon. The food was good ,but nothing was exceptional .Maybe dinner would be better. Our server was excellent and very knowledgeable about the menu.Upon looking at our check we noticed a service charge was on the bill.We asked our server about it , and she said instead of raising the prices, they added an additional charge to everyone’s check. It was only a little over 5 dollars but it’s the point. If you need to make a little more money, then raise a few of your entree prices. Because of this and just average food for the price we would probably not return.

Absolutely amazing breakfast! We were in Mystic during a big snowstorm and most of the town was closed. The Shipwright's Daughter welcomed us kindly and cheerful. Shout out to our lovely waitress Jordana. We sat near the window and enjoyed our breakfast during the cozy snowfall. Can't wait to come back to dine here for dinner someday. We were told they have a different menu every night! We were impressed by the unique ingredients on the menu and the creative ways to make delicious, inspiring dishes.

I've been here I think 3 times. The first two visits were great, but they were years ago. My husband and I went last night to celebrate Valentine's a few days early, and were super disappointed. My husband had the 5 course chef's choice, and I had the crab dip, winter salad, and pork chop. We spent almost $300, and can honestly say, there wasn't one item we loved. It was all very mediocre if not worse. Even the bread we were given was not very enjoyable. The pork chops I had came with kale, which I was excited about because I love kale, but it was so incredibly spicy, I couldn't even eat it. The waiter was so amazing and knew that I didn't like it, so brought me some broccoli instead. Everything presented well, the place was clean, and waiter was amazing, but to say the food was disappointing is an understatement. The only thing I mentioned to the waiter was the spiciness of the kale, because I really didn't want to make a stink. The only reason I'm giving 3 stars and not less is because of our last experiences there. I posted pictures of almost everything, except the dessert I forgot to take a picture of. It was some passion fruit thing that came with the 5 course chef's choice. We shared it, and ate it, but can't say we liked it. Unfortunately, I don't think we'll be back. The price we paid did not match the flavor and experience.
