This restaurant is one of my happy places. Not good for takeout, but great for dine-in. The drinks are tasty, but be careful as they are strong. Definitely not skimping on the alcohol/tequila in their pours. I usually go with the taco platter, which comes with four different tacos, of which the pork is the best (pork has an impressive smokey flavor). Would call this casual, but it's New Canaan so it's still a bit upscale feeling, but overall a pretty straightforward, no frills, tasty Mexican restaurant.

Good ambience and friendly ppl but the food was just bad. I ordered Mahi Mahi tacos and it was so bad, I felt stomachache after eating that. Also, order a burger which was pretty bad as well. Would return for the drinks but not for the food.

Good food, terrible service. No sense of ownership. Just people doing their job or not.

I was here years ago and remembered it being pretty good. I went back tonight and while the waiter himself was nice, the food was far from great. Burritos were lacking any sort of cheese and the beans and rice had minimal seasoning. To add, their appetizer size guacamole was the size of my palm and cost $13.95. I’m all for paying for good food and am understanding of certain price hikes, but that was flat out robbery. Even the waiter was embarrassed when I asked him to check that he in fact gave us the right size. Better options to spend your money in my opinion.

I agree that the margaritas are excellent. Can't say that about the entire food menu, but we usually get the Arrachera and shrimp fajitas which never disappoint. Atmosphere is fun and the service is friendly.

A moment of silence for the reviewer who thought the margarita tasted like alcohol lol. The margaritas here are amazing! Two and you are toast. If you can't handle a marg... go down the street.

Great margaritas and they occasionally have chicharones. Classic Mexican food and some specialty dishes. My favorite is their spicy steak dish. Carne asada Yucatán. Justine the bartender is very good.

I wanted to love this place. The service is great and the employees are amazing. Very pleasant. Excellent vibe too. But I’m going there for the food, and honestly it’s not quality for the price you pay. Over priced and using very basic ingredients. Pretty poorly put together tacos and the fish was flavorless. 50 dollars for two plates of rice and beans. Sadly I won’t return.

Accidentally went here with a party of 6. Had two drinks and could not finish either of them... Very alcoholic and poor tasting. Spicy Margarita was awful. Tasted like battery acid. Food was okay, but not very appetizing

Place has really gone down hill since Paul Mauk sold it .. all the great dishes are gone, replaced by the usual American slop ... just go to Taco Bell

I have not tried the food here, but I have tried the drinks. The bartender is lovely and an amazing asset to the business because she really knows how to maintain a positive vibe. The guy in the dining room not so much, he was pretty dismissive, which was just weird. The bartender chick makes it feel very homelike. She showed us their collection of matches with cool messages in them, and even pulled out a bottle of Hussong tequila when I asked for it - a tequila very few places know about or carry. I bring my friends here whenever they visit me from out of state, and Everytime I come back to CT this is one of the first spots I go for enjoyment. PS- the bartender was working with a boot on after hurting her foot. Give this girl a raise and some time off! She's a valuable asset and any business owner would be a fool to fail and see that!
