The staff referred to the African American male picking up an order as a “mayate” to the other staff. It’s a derogatory term used to describe African American people. Don’t assume you can speak in your native language and not expect people to understand you. I’m not surprised, it’s New Canaan.

As an Uber eats and doordash driver, this restaurant absolutely sucks. Rude employees, they simply refuse to serve delivery drivers. If you order on Uber eats or doordash, your food will 100% be cold and stale. Not only that, I got to eat this place for free (lucky turned out not so lucky customer cancelled the order) and the sandwich I got for free wasn't even worth the $0 I paid. Disgusting.

All of the negative reviews here are suspicious. I have been here dozens of times and received quick and friendly service and great food. The prices are in line with the market. Something weird going on.

Food sucks. Workers suck. Specifically the girl who rings people up. Rude- learn how to talk to people especially a customer. Your food ain’t good enough to give an attitude like you do. Be happy the coffee shop next door is there, otherwise this place would close with how terrible the service is.

I lived in New Canaan CT for a good two years while my parents were getting ready too retire.

Every Friday after my lunch shift at South End (no longer there). I'd grab myself one of their amazing sandwiches. Spicy chicken cutlet was one of my favorites. Thr Philly cheese steak was soo good too.

I'd even pick up a sandwich for my mother and we'd eat lunch together.

I'd also grab a quick mid shift sandwich on my Sunday doubles at south end. My coworkers and I would put in a few sandwich orders on Sunday and bring them back too south end between brunch and dinner.

I can't remember his name. But either the manager or owner was always behind the counter ready too greet me with a huge smile. He knew my name. He knew what days I'd come in. They were always so nice too me and I never had a disappointment in food. I miss this place dearly. ( I have moved out of CT )

Ordered a sandwich and said no onions. Opened my sandwich to find it covered in onions. Was then told I couldn't have my money back or a new sandwich. Wasted my whole lunch break talking to a very rude person. I would not recommend this deli to anyone. With what they charge everything should be perfect.

Wonderful place. Good food, nice atmosphere and great service. It's a perfect place to stop for a bite to eat without having to go to the bank to pay the bill. Everything is reasonable and worth the visit.

$15 for a turkey sandwich on white toast? Inflation at its finest. Won’t be back.

How do you charge 15 dollars for a sandwich and mess it up that badly

Horrible Experience they served me chicken cutlets that were weeks old and had the texture of plastic. Will never go there again. Plus no one named Tony works there…..that should tell you everything you need to know.
