⭐☆☆☆☆ Three Strikes and You're Out
We've tried to give Abate’s the benefit of the doubt—three times now—but unfortunately, the consistent mistakes have left us disappointed and frustrated.
First incident: Our order was mistakenly given to another customer. We watched that customer return it after realizing it wasn't theirs, which was concerning for obvious reasons.
Second incident (Halloween): We placed a large order while hosting family for a Halloween celebration and were sent home with the wrong food—anchovies, which no one in our group eats. It was too late to fix it, and the night was soured.
Third incident (most recent): After placing another order, my son waited over 40 minutes only to be told they had once again given our order to someone else. They promised to remake and deliver it within an hour and offered a $5 discount—but at this point, the issue is not the money, it's the repeated lack of care and reliability. The pizza was also way under cooked and very disappointing.
We really wanted to support a local business, but this is three major errors on three separate occasions. Unfortunately, we won't be returning. Hopefully this feedback helps improve consistency for future customers.

The pizza is the best ever. The sauce is so sweet and they do not scrimp on toppings. We always enjoy getting a large to have leftovers the next day. Keep up the good work and we certainly will be ordering over and over. The trip from Bethany is so worth it .

The food was delicious my son and I sat on the patio and had lunch. The waitress was great checking on us often but not to much if you understand what I mean. The food had me ready to nap after 2 slices of the pizza ? was really good ? will go back.

Lately it's been hit and miss with abate last month I went there wanted a slice of gamma pizza with sausage they said they could do it with sausage something else is ok? Today my wife and I went for dinner they told her that her meal came with a salad I ordered antipasto salad they charged us for salad dressing if you order a salad it should come with dressing or they should tell you will be charged for it it's not the $1 it's the principal maybe my wife said we only go there for apizza.

The first time I tried their North Haven location my husband and I were not impressed. We thought the food and pizza lacked flavor. After hearing friends and family saying how good it was we decided to try it again. You know there is an issue when the kids rather the plain peice of bread over the pizza or pasta. One child had pasta with meatballs. The only flavor was the meatballs but the texture was off. The other child had cheese pizza and after two slices went to buttered bread. Salad with house dressing was also lacking in flavor. I had sole francese which had some flavor but was extremely light. Though reading other reviews about the fish I'm now worried if I'll get sick from it. The staff then seemed surprised we didn't want to take any of the left overs home. Why to just throw out when we get home? For having been refurbished inside recently the interior is lacking. The dripping air vents over you as either wait in the front entrance as well as over some of the tables is horrible. That's a simple fix!

We there with my family for an early dinner. We were rushed the minute we sat down. Server was trying to take our plates away in the middle of us eating. The entire time we were being watched and monitored. It not like the food was free and I paid for entire party but was treated as a freeloader. The black family sitting behind us was treated even worse. Would never go there again

Food depends on who makes it. It is a hit or miss situation. If they do mess up they will make it up the next time you go. I only do take out

Calamari salad was tasteless. Absolutely no seasoning. Calamari tough n still hot even though it was delivered 40 min later. Giant Sicilian slice was normal size.

Went into the restaurant and no one offered any assistance to sit in their dining g room. We were ignored. So we left.

Excellent pizzeria. Do not get the other food, though; I got severe food poisoning from their fish! The pizzas are incredible; they used to be located on New Haven's famous Wooster Street, and their thin crust pizza is absolutely authentic and very flavorful. My dad and I loved the prosciutto pie and their traditional white clam pie. Very cute inside with large, airy patio.
