Exceeded my expectations! Better options than chipotle especially for vegetarians or pescatarians. I highly enjoyed my salmon bowl with fresh avocado. The women that took my order over the phone was soo nice! I’ll will defiantly return.

Wondered into this place at 8:30 on Tuesday night Granted that it was about to close, but it was quiet no music. The person behind the counter was very cheery except she didn’t speak English and she didn’t speak Spanish??? I asked for a quesadilla and got a burrito no big deal the food was good. It was overall just a kind of odd experience.

We first tried Avocado Haven at a catered event and loved it so much we went to the restaurant the following week to order dinner but A) we almost did not find the restaurant and B) the quality of both meals were quite different and not in a good way. We tried to order online in advance but online ordering was disabled so we decided to just go to the restaurant and order in person. There were two addresses listed online, depending on where you looked (Yelp address differed from website address). We went to 9 Whitney Avenue first and there was no Avocado Haven so we went to the 39 Elm Street location. Nothing there, either. We tried calling but nobody answered the phone... just a recording asking customers to leave a message. We drove back to the Whitney Avenue location intending to ask someone in a local business for help in finding the restaurant but then we saw a New Haven Salad Shop and recognized it as the sister restaurant to the Avocado Haven via their website. Both restaurants are owned by the same couple. *If you're looking for Avocado Haven, you will NOT find it. Look for their sister restaurant, New Haven Salad Shop.*Inside there was no menu for AH, only for the salad shop. Fortunately we recalled some of the menu from online and placed a large order. We were told there were no pinto beans, no soft taco tortillas and no warm queso blanco. Disappointment! We ordered bowls and tacos and asked for cheese on all. The order taker asked if we wanted mozzarella cheese? No. We wanted cheddar cheese, please. Mozzarella does not go on Mexican food. We were told it would take 20 minutes to prepare the order (fine) but it took 30 minutes (no big deal). We drove home (20 minute ride) and weren't thrilled when we unpacked the order. -Several toppings were not included in our bowls.-We received a SMALL order of chips & guacamole even though we ordered (and paid extra) for a large.-We received a burrito (did not order a burrito ).-We did not receive the tacos we ordered (we ordered tacos).-We did not received the side of cheese we ordered (and paid for). The food was fresh except for the tomatoes and lettuce. The tomatoes were bland and the lettuce was sliced with a knife and wilted. The burrito was mostly filled with rice.We really want to love this place but how can you love what you ordered but did not receive? How can you order if you cannot find or reach the place? We don't understand why there wasn't a sign on the Salad Shop advertising Avocado Haven. We wasted time and gasoline driving around New Haven trying to find it. Why not answer the phone? Why are they're still advertising AH on their website without updating (and explaining) the change in location? These are all basic Restaurant Management 101 issues and must be corrected immediately. We may try AH again after they open their Chapel Street location (information provided by the order taker) but meanwhile would really appreciate someone reaching out to us to make us whole after not receiving some of what we paid for. I will definitely call the manager in the morning to see if I can get a response.Love the food provided to the catered event but food and service when ordering in the restaurant was a letdown. AH could (and should be) better organized and managed. Honestly if not for the catered event experience, my rating would be just 3 stars.

Tried to order via Uber eats, 1 hour before their closing time. At first they said they were out of white rice and could I choose something else(?) and then they canceled my order completely 30 minutes before their advertised closing time on a Friday night (8pm)... yeah won't be trying this place again

Ordered a burrito for lunch at a popup stand at my job. The guy forgot to give me chips with my entrée. He ended up giving the last bag to someone who got in line after me. Funny how he didn't forget her but also didn't forget to charge me 10.75 for the tiniest burrito I've ever seen. It wasn't even good and there was a pitiful amount of meat. Absolutely refused to give me a refund. If that experience is anything like the main restaurant that's gonna be a hard pass from me.

Ordered Avocado Haven for a catered staff lunch. Incredible portions and the food was super good. All who ate it enjoyed it very much.

My first and last time here unfortunately. Ordered a chicken and rice bowl which did not come with Chicken. Rice was hard and definitely tasted old. My bowl was loaded with lettuce and cilantro and barely anything else. I had to reach out to get a refund because I was on my lunch and didn't have time to go back.

Ordered this because it was cheap and fast on Uber eats. For my quesadilla I picked sour cream, pico, and extra cheese for toppings. I was not expecting these to be inside the quesadilla, especially the sour cream. It was still decent. The beans were a bit bland. Chips and salsa were good.

I've been waiting on this place to open for a little while and they did not disappoint, it's better than Chipotle

The food was edible but did not taste like Mexican food. Meat are very underseasoned. The toppings are fresh. The pickled jalapeño and carrot tastes like it came from a jar. The spicy salsa tastes like the chili oil from Lao Gan Ma.They used too many separate containers for the toppings for the fajitas. I get some containers are a good idea to prevent the food from getting soggy like the sauces or the sour cream, but the japanenos, cheese, and tomatos were a bit excessive. The fajita are better portioned than the burrito. It also came with 4 tortillas to assemble into your own tacos. The burrito lacked meat and was mostly rice. Almost 2/3 of the burrito was filled with rice. The Pico de Gallo tasted alright and it was fresh. The tomatoes were either not ripe enough or just not sweet enough to bring out the full flavor. The chips were also still crispy.Overall the food was very unremarkable. It was fresh but didn't have much flavor.Got my food delivered via Uber Eats. Burrito was not soggy and in still good condition. The food was still a little warm when we ate it.
