I checked in on Oct 20th and a reservation was made on my credit card which should have been cancelled on Oct 24th, when I checked out. Unfortunately, this hold, amounting to more than $1,000, has caused significant inconvenience during my travels. More than two weeks after that date and after reporting it here and elsewhere, the hold on my credit card continues and I received no explanation for it.

The room was nice, but the elevator and hallway seemed dirty and not well maintained. We asked for housekeeping to come at 3:00 when we went out and clean a mess that we inadvertently made when a pair of shoes disintegrated, but when we returned after 9:00 no one had been there. The signage for the hotel driveway was poor and difficult to find the lobby when we drove in.

it is a midrange hotel that takes too much advantage of its nice location. we paid up for a suite which wasn't a suite. just a large room with a small, unusable pull out bed. not what you'd expect for $1000 for 3 nights. there's enough space for a modest investment to turn it into more of a suite. but it seems to be run as a cash cow. i'd go elsewhere.

I’m currently staying in this hotel and just wanted to “pen” my review before I left and life made me forget to write it. This is a lovely hotel. First things first, I’m staying in a clean and well appointed king guest room with one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in. The bathroom is large and clean. The view is nice and the tv is huge. The lobby bar/restaurant is great. I’ve had both of my evening meals there as well as one breakfast. Try the Margarita Flatbread. The bar tender on duty on Sunday night made me an On Point Moscow Mule. The front desk staff has been extremely friendly and checkin was fast and effieicent. I think this hotel has gotten short changed with some of the reviews below. This is a great hotel in an excellent walkable location. 5 Stars!

"Average" should not be considered a bad review. I prefer Marriott properties because they are clean and professional and you know what you're getting and you get what you pay for. The Courtyard at Yale does not aspire to be a 5-star hotel. It is clean, comfortable and professional. Pretty standard hotel. Breakfast was nothing to shake a stick at. Ice machines work. Laundry works. Easy walk to Yale University.

Basic hotel, the attendants at the front desk are wonderful. There is housekeeping upon request. Good location. The lobby is cute and parking garage is convenient. If you’re ok with basic, it is a good hotel overall. The bed was a little too springy and hard for my comfort. And the entire night, there was so much noise outside.

I just returned from spending 2 of my free night awards. Many hotels will assign the worst room when paying this way and this was definitely not the case here. Due to all the negative reviews I read, I was a bit nervous and called the hotel and spoke to a couple of people. They were very honest about what to expect. In fact, although it could use an update, the room was just fine (and I'm picky) and totally immaculate. I had white socks on and my socks were just as white walking around the room. Actually, I was shocked that it was so clean and there wasn't a speck of dust anywhere. Now to the best part, the staff. They are wonderful and extremely friendly and helpful. There never was a shortage of staff either. Every person I encountered had a smile on their face and couldn't be happier to help. I enjoyed just chatting with them. I only gave the Courtyard 4 stars instead of 5 because the rooms are not that large , they charge for parking and basic toiletries are provided. We found the location convenient for walking around during both day and evening. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

I've spent at least a dozen nights at this hotel in the past 3 months, and won't be coming back. This hotel is well past its prime, with many issues. In one stay the towel rack completely fell off the bathroom wall. In my current room the top dresser drawer had no stops, it fell out when pulled opened, clipping my knee and landing on my foot. The bathrooms are tiny, barely enough shelf space to place a toiletry kit. As I sit typing this review at 7:00 AM, what sounds like maintenance work in the room next door has been going on since 6:30 AM. Maintenance workers are now huddled outside of my door, conversing rather loudly, as I try to get some work done. One of the two elevators is out of service, not sure how long that has been the case. This is simply not a hotel worthy of the Marriott brand, in this Titanium member's opinion. Marriott is opening a Residence Inn in New Haven in April. Until then I'll stay elsewhere and commute to the client site.

Roughly 250 rooms and ONE elevator all weekend. No mention of it when booking or checking in. No “sorry about the elevator situation, here’s a complimentary drink coupon”…you know, some acknowledgment for the hassle you’ll be dealing with during your two nights. Rooms are old, parking was $25 which seems about $25 too high. Cheap pillows, cheap linens. As others have noted, the staff was very pleasant. In sum, for $200 a night (plus $25 for parking) I expect more from a Marriott.

You are not looking at the spires of the Yale campus or even the charms of old New Haven when you stay at this Marriott property: room 415 looks directly onto the parking lot and the sloping, broken rooftops and porches of the sad buildings next door. The lock on my room's door did not work and could not be fixed; they offered to move me but by that point I had already unpacked and prepared for the event at which I was presenting. There no food available when I arrived and although the bar was open when I returned (and pleasant), there was no food available at the hotel at that point, either. This morning they were out of orange juice. Obviously the big deal is the lock and when I spoke to the GM he said he would deal with it immediately, but I do wish I came away with a better impression overall.

Loud construction and garbage truck on Monday. Loud banging on the back balcony and workers yelling. Garbage truck at 6am, way too early, and it’s too bright and loud when they have the lights on. Makes it really difficult to sleep in the morning

Bed is rock hard, pillows are so lousy, the bathroom is extremely tiny and nothing like shown in the pictures. We are staying here now and very disappointed. Hardly any usb ports for charging devices. My husband had to sleep on the couch last night because the bed is so bad. Not what we expect from a Marriott (we have stayed at many Marriotts)

If you’re visiting Yale, the Courtyard is a nice, convenient place to stay. While not particularly fancy, the lobby is pleasant, the rooms are decent, and the staff members are efficient and helpful. In addition to the hotel’s bistro, right next to the hotel, you’ll find a diner and late-night pizza place. You’ll find more restaurants along with places to shop located just a few blocks away on Broadway. Biggest drawback is that the neighborhood gets a bit sketchy a few steps beyond the Courtyard.

This older hotel is Clean and quiet, with easy, moderately priced parking. It is not fancy but it is very close to Yale and convenient for shopping. Check in and check out were easy and quick. The Hot chocolate and cookie bar in the lobby was a nice touch on a chilly December day.

this is an excellent property. the staff is very good and friendly and helpful. this weekend hot chocolate and cookies were in the lobby which was a very nice touch. the housekeeping staff has the room immaculate on arrival and we were able to check in early. this is our fourth time here and we look forward to our next trip. the restaurant staff were also very helpful
