A venue can't choose its clientele so it's difficult to pick a good rating for this location. The food and coffee and service are all fine. However, this location is used as a loud meeting space, public shouting forum, and impromptu WeWork location for people having loud zoom calls without headphones. If you're looking to just sit down and relax or get some work done, this is not the place to do it as you will be interrupted constantly. If you're looking for coffee or food to go, it's Blue State and it's no different from the other locations. You like it or you don't. The late hours are a bonus for this location as New Haven is lacking in late night cafes with table space.

This place has become more of a shelter for homeless and other types than a coffee shop. Problem is some of these guys hassle you and the staff here could care less. Definitely go elsewhere.

Worst coffee shop in nhv. Ridiculously slow service. Waited 40 minutes for a regular latte and a plain bagel. Served the wrong order afterwards

Spacious cafe in New Haven near Yale campus. They do not appear to sell any beans. This is more of a place to post up with a laptop or meet a friend.

Love blue state coffee but there is always an issue at this location at York street. Try to visit any of their other locations in new haven because their coffee is really good. Again we got the wrong order here, waited another 10 min until it got fixed. I get my beans from here too, which were forgotten so I had to wait another 10 min until someone was available to grind them. I asked for fine ground for an espresso machine but that didn’t work either and I got coarse coffe grinds... 16$ beans that I won’t be able to use for my espresso machine. Love their coffee and beans but we will avoid this location

Coffee's good. Service is atrocious with grumpy staff & have made food. Breakfast sandwich had bacon that was basically just fat, bagel was hard...how do u screw up a breakfast bagel sandwich? They did. Save yourself a trip here.

This place has fruit smoothies (with real fruit!) at a great price. They also usually have huge gluten free snickerdoodle cookies. It's a great place to get a few hours of work done but can also get pretty crowded.

The is definitely a college town coffee shop. Although not as expensive as Starbucks, the price is steep. But, the quality of the coffee is superb. So unless you're looking for a name brand just so you can say you had " Starbucks" this is where you'd want to be. The staff is precise and quick. Stop by for a cup you be feeling great in no time

Besides my burnt sandwich, this place used to be way better, I dunno what happened. I had to wait almost 30 minutes for a drink. Hire more people maybe ? The two people working there were so overwhelmed.

Quite frankly, I used to love this establishment; the environment and coffee of course. However it seems like since COVID-19 hit NHV hard, they haven't been able to recover. The coffee has been tasting burnt for months even though it was brewed minutes prior.Daily I witness the baristas being overworked in poorly maintained conditions. Literally the poor barista was standing in a nest of flies as she was trying to serve. The staff always has a great attitude despite the circumstances. There's no mandatory breaks for those poor individuals as well as alot of health hazards circling the place.Overall, shame on the owner for letting it get to this.

I've visited this location twice. The coffee is okay and the 8 ounce latte is almost $5 but it's relatively small. Do not purchase their baked goods. Its uaully stale.

I had blue state coffee for the first time and it was tasty. I wanted to try something new and asked server for a coffee which is not to bitter. She prepared a latte and it was very tasty. I can drink this latte every morning.

Excellent almond milk latte, right across from the Sterling Memorial Library

I had time to kill near the Blue State Coffee on York Street and dropped in for a black cold brew. I've previously been to the Blue State Coffee on Wall Street, but not in a while. I remember it having a more positive atmosphere. The one on York seems largely transactional, the atmosphere is a net minus and I wouldn't want to spend much time there. The baked goods in plastic wrap is always a downer for me. Service was fine. My coffee was OK. It tasted like a dark, dark roast, which is not my favorite flavor profile. There was nothing wrong with it per se, but there are so many good coffee places in CT now, I can't call it anything better than Average. Three Stars

Great atmosphere with two large unlocked restrooms that are always clean. Great coffee, with dark roast light roast and decaf options, way better coffee than Dunkin' and I prefer it to Starbucks. Staff is always very attentive and friendly. Their food options are a bit pricey but they're tasty and have relatively good selection of bakery foods.
