I think Cast Iron has an amazing menu and the food is exceptional. Unfortunately my experience(s) over the last THREE times were not as amazing. Friends and I had a reservation set up for NYE 2023 in advance. The day before we got a call from the manager that our reservation was cancelled because they overbooked. Extremely disappointed but not defeated we still decided to book another reservation for Feb 10th the weekend BEFORE Valentine's Day. We were told in order to book a reservation we had to pay a deposit (which was no problem) but we would not be able to sit in the dining area we would have to be at the bar. Although I don't think that is very accommodating again the food is worth it. When we arrived for our reservation our entire party was not there due to parking. The person who was going to be taking care of us was adamite about seating 6 of us at one table and 2 of us in a completely different area. The dining room was not even half full. Two other employees offered to accommodate us as well as a couple sitting next to us at a 4 top. Our server had dug her heels in and refused to be flexible for our group of 8. We had to leave and find another restaurant for our celebration. Finally a THIRD try! With a separate group we had dinner reservations for a Thursday night at 7. Upon calling to alter the reservation we were cancelled due to the fact that is was a group. But there really was no explanation given. We quickly changed plans and had a wonderful dinner at Prime One Eleven in Trumbull in which they accommodated us with absolutely no problem just hours before our arrival. If the policy at Cast Iron is there can be no groups that is no problem but stating that online, and communicating that would be helpful. I have eaten here and loved it. It is unfortunate that won't happen again. With two separate groups of professional working women (not young rowdy kids) we were not treated in a hospitable manner. Prior to these experiences Cast Iron was definitely on my highly recommended list. It is now a place I am discouraging people from going to because they don't seem to want everyone's business.

Our meal at Cast Iron Chef was a game changer! It’s no wonder they’ve received such great recognition - this was for sure one of the best steakhouses I’ve visited. Instead of bread, you get to snack on popcorn before your meal, which we couldn’t stop eating! It has a spicy, yet sweet and smoky seasoning to it that is SO GOOD. Having all of the food in a cast iron skillet is a game-changer because your food stays warmer for so much longer and cooks more evenly, which I think is why everything is so high quality! The staff was very professional and attentive, and the dining room was really classy - I loved the black and red color scheme! We will absolutely be back, especially for another special occasion. We brought my grandfather for his birthday, and he was so happy!

It's hard to see how "easygoing" is an appropriate descriptor of a restaurant with a dress code. To be clear, I don't mind the dress code itself; sometimes you glam up for a nicer place. That's OK. No, it's that there's something to be said about truth in advertising.

I got quite a few appetizers and the fettuccine Bolognese. The fettuccine was super bland, and in desperate need of salt, and the short rib was way too sweet almost sickly sweet and I couldn’t even eat it. The stuffed clams had way too much breading and were mushy. The only thing that was alright was the lamb lollipops and the raw clams. If you’re going here for a nice night out meal, go somewhere else. If you’re going for a casual lunch with raw clams and oysters it’s fine. The waiter not once came to our table to check on us, and wasn’t outgoing at all just very “matter of fact”. I would definitely not recommend coming here it’s ridiculously overhyped and also overpriced for what it is. I came for my girlfriend’s birthday and we were both thoroughly disappointed. Go to Jacks Steakhouse instead!!

Excellent for a fine dining experience. The steaks were great as expected. The lobster arrancini were also delicious. Other seafood entrees looked good too. Will have to go back to try them out!

Quiet little place in New Haven with an amazing steak. Nothing bad to be said about it. The veggies were cooked great. The steak was juicy and perfectly seasoned. Even the popcorn given with the drinks was great. Absolutely would come back.

Food was mediocre and over priced. Popcorn on the table thought I was at the bar. I was told it was a dress cold, however seen several guest in casual wear. It was just as cold inside as it was outside.Parking: Multiple parking spaces on the street and a paid parking lot about a block away.

The oysters and the mussels were absolutely delicious, 5 stars. The service was excellent. I will complain about the porterhouse for 2, it was a pound of broccoli, 1 pound of potatoes and 2 pounds of beef bones with no beef. Not worth the money or the flavor, which was absent. The St. Louis baby back ribs were horrible. Nothing but bone, grizzle and fat.
