3 of us came to watch my granddaughter play in a basketball tournament at SCSU. We had Googled 'dive bars' on the way. We were not disappointed. The neighborhood atmosphere was evident. From the 3 friendly patrons who greeted us to the genial bartender. A 'Cheers' atmosphere. The 'melt in your mouth' burgers were the best ever. And we were pleasantly amazed with the bill! A definite place to return.

Extremely rude bartender. Made bunch of uncomfortable “jokes” including one that was clearly racist. Surprising to see such positive reviews here, because the vibe was pretty much dead as well. The only food options are burgers and hot dogs. Our group felt so uncomfortable that we had to chug our drinks to leave asap.

It's neighborhood dive bar perfection. As with any local dive the atmosphere can vary if you're not familiar with the local crowd. You're inevitably going to get people looking at you/wondering who you are but that doesn't mean they're unfriendly! I'd be scoping out the newbies too in my own spot. I found the service to be just fine and damn -- those burgers were WAY better than I expected. The burgers are WELL worth a stop.

I had confusing experiences. I stopped there because it was inexpensive and walking distance from my home. My first time there the bar tender was dismissive and seemed to not want to serve me. She made me feel really bad and not welcome. However the second time she was very cheerful and welcoming, very much like I was part of the regular crowd and I should come back and hang out. Maybe she was having a bad day the first time. I will say, my first night there other patrons could tell I was upset with her attitude and came over to talk to me, let me know sometimes she is just like that and they are there if I want to talk. The people there, who seem that they make up a regular crowd, do seem welcoming and sweet. It has a bit of a dive bar vibe, but as someone who loves that environment, that's a good thing. Star off because I'm still undecided about the bartender

Stumbled upon this place visiting from San Diego, CA. This is a very unsuspecting cool lil dive bar. Bill greeted us after I yelled through the window (we were trying to enter through the side door ?) the drinks were strong and cold. Jody made us a fabulous cheeseburger that hit the spot as I was starving. If you're in New Haven, CT I highly suggest giving this place a visit. Their story and history is super interesting! From prohibition until today! Ask Bill or Jody to give you the scoop. Will definitely make this place a regular stop everytime I'm visiting. Thank you Bill and Jody for the best time!

Was here for a retirement party. Cool bar, burgers and dogs and a grill. Outside area was huge. Had a great time. Would definitely come back.
