I’ve heard good things about this place, but I was sadly disappointed. The atmosphere and location are nice, but that’s about it. The FOH staff need better training- the person who took my order kept rudely interrupting me and didn’t know the menu or how to use the POS. They didn’t let me finish saying my order, even though I tried to repeat myself many times to make sure they had it right. They also didn’t read it back to me. As a barista myself, I was really thrown off by this- I know how to order clearly. Anyway, after all of this, my order was made incorrectly, and when I politely asked it to be remade, I was given even more attitude. The coffee itself is bad- the lattes have way too much milk, so you can barely taste the espresso or syrup. Also, the breakfast sandwiches are very overpriced for what they are- the skinniest sandwiches in New Haven! Even with the egg surcharge, they really skimp out on the filings. It’s unfortunate as this place has a ton of potential

We usually like this place but we just had an awful time today. We came in 15 mins before close and we were told we weren't allowed to get food. There were like 10 people behind the counter who were giving us dirty looks and sweeping around our feet. As soon as we left they locked the door behind us, and we tried to go back in for a straw but they didnt let us. We ordered an americano with a splash of milk and it came with about a cup of milk in it, and it looked like it might have gone bad because it was lumpy and grainy, and it was crazy expensive.

Great little place. Coffee was very good (although I ordered a lot of flavor in it so I could t really judge the actual coffee).
The pistachio cake was maybe one of the best pieces of cake I can remember. And the chicken salad sandwich was excellent, on very fresh white bread.

Was supposed to go there with a friend, but she got sick. I went there with my Dad and we really enjoyed it. We shared the California Panini which was enough for 2 people when we each had a half. We couldn't resist the Magic Bars so I bought 2 of those as well. Not as much seating because it's a small place, and parking was an issue (ended up trying to relocate where our car was on Central Ave) but def will come back here!

A jelly and cream cheese bagel should not cost even $3 for a dime sized amount.
A turkey cobbler sandwich that was $10 hardly any turkey on it probably 2 pieces worth. Wanted a refund on the food but they said they couldn’t do it since the manager wasn’t there. The quality and quantity of the food is poor

I was really charmed when I went into this coffee shop, it's pretty cute. Unfortunately the food and price don't match. I paid $30 for two soggy flavorless egg sandwiches, a lemon square which is basically a block of sugar with no lemon flavor, and two espressos which were...sorta okay. I hate to say it but if I'd known what the food was like I would have gone to Dunkin.

Deja Brew, you used to have my heart—and my breakfast order. But lately, things have gotten... complicated. The food has taken a bit of a dip, while the prices have taken a definite climb. An extra egg fee? Really? It’s an egg sandwich. One egg. On a roll. Let’s not complicate things. If it were $5 and came with two eggs, I’d happily be a regular, every weekend (and probably an over-caffeinated weekday or two).

Speaking of caffeine, your mixed coffee drinks are the rockstars of the menu—they look delicious, and I bet they taste just as good. But if I’m in the mood for a straightforward black coffee, it feels a little flat, like it’s been sitting around waiting for a plot twist. And the hours—why not let us early birds in on the fun?

That said, I’m not totally breaking up with you. The pastries are still excellent, the vibes are great, and your space—cozy inside during the winter, sun-soaked patio in the summer—undeniable vibes. Plus, the chance to bump into friendly neighbors always makes the visit worthwhile.

I want to love you again, Deja Brew. Really, I do. But until we resolve this egg-and-coffee drama, I guess we’re in a bit of a tiff. Here’s hoping for a reunion—and soon!

Make sure to read every single sign big or small. Bring a calculator. They have additional charges for EVERYTHING and anything. The egg sandwich says $3.95 but there is an Egg fee and a bread fee as well. They might as well get a bouncer and charge a cover to get in ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

Cute, spot for sandwiches, small bites!
However, the service has gone down. I recently called in an order to go, and I couldn't understand the employee.Spoke horrible English. Also, if I ask for my hard roll to be toasted , I'd like it toasted.
I don't think I will be frequenting this spot. 👎🏾
