I think I'm spoiled because coming from Los Angeles and practically grew up eating banh mi's and being able to buy fresh baked baguettes and banh mi for $2 or buy 3 get one free type of price brackets that I was turned off on how pricey it is for a traditional banh mi here at Lucs Place. It's almost $7 for one! But I guess it's because you gotta keep up with the cost of owning a shop in downtown new haven. Nevertheless, It's a great banh mi. Bread is very fresh. Flavors are on point with the pate and soy sauce combination. I've been here twice, and both times, the currys were sold out. I think I need to get here first thing in the morning! Parking can be tricky, you either get lucky with walking from your office nearby or a space opened with Street parking.

My favorite lunch spot! I go here often for his banh mi pork sandwich...yum! The chicken and beef are equally delicious as well! If you're lucky to pop in on Friday then you'll have the option of beef pho! When I'm in the mood for it on Friday this is definitely my go-to! Enjoy!

This place is amazing! Went yesterday for a late lunch and it was SO good! I had the lemongrass pork Banh Mi which was my first time having banh mi and I was blown away- it was so flavorful and fresh and the house baked bread was out of this world. I also had the iced coffee and it was delicious. I highly recommend this cute and tasty place!!!

Love me some Duc's. Nothing superfluous on the menu, and yet still plenty of options for vegetarians and fish-eating folk like ourselves. Ingredients are super fresh; the food is flavorful; and the owner and staff are friendly. Everything we look for in a no-fuss, crave-able lunch! Will definitely go back. Fun fact: here was the first time I ever saw durian on a menu!

I ordered the Classic Banh Mi. It was a little different from what I am used to. There is a bit of soy sauce with mayo on the bread (no, they're not combined in the sandwich and yes it was a good flavor combo) instead of the usual butter and mayo. Also I am used to a layer of liver pate spread into the bread but this sandwich was good without it. The only meat in this sandwich is Vietnamese meatloaf but usually there are other types of cold cuts as well. The pickled vegetables were more thinly sliced than the usual thick chunky cuts, which I preferred, and lightly pickled--not too sour. This sandwich usually includes slices of jalapeno which I always pick out and raw sliced onion which I also don't like so I am glad neither of those were in my sandwich. The bread itself was excellent--a but crisp on the outside and soft and airy on the inside. I would have liked to have my bread toasted a bit more but I really enjoyed this sandwich! Filling yet light meal. Thanks for putting the chili sauce on the side. I would recommend this sandwich to others.

Nice place. Good server and clean seating area. Lots of options on the menu to choose from for both bun (noodle bowl) and Bahn mi. The rotisserie chicken was excellent as was the beef. Lots of interesting vegetarian/vegan options as well. Would definitely come back.

So first of all, I just happen to have the same name with the owner of the restaurant, I’m not him! But anyway, about the food, this place is absolutely fantastic! I and my friend have tried grilled fish rice noodle, cha lua rice noodle and Pho, all of them are amazing. Pho here has the southern style, so if you are from Hanoi, it will taste different, but it is delicious, definitely recommend it (they only have Pho on Friday tho). My friend loved the broth so much that he asked for extra rice to finish the soup. The place, however, don’t have rice so the owner gave him a loaf of bread for free instead! 100% coming back!

The sandwiches aren't ready in an instant, so you have to wait a little. You could also call ahead, if you don't want to wait. Can't go wrong with either the beef or pork. Both so yummy!
