Saturday Oct 11, 7.30pm.
I have just bought my large Chai.
I think employees need a little more practice. I have never been served one as the ones post in Instagram.
Taste 5 stars. Delicious.
Elena’s is delicious! There are new and exciting icecream flavors each week, and the vanilla soft serve is to die for! The employees are super friendly and they even have lactose pills for those who are dairy sensitive!
Awesome place
Nice ice-cream
Now I can understand the queues
Got the passion fruit special today and it was ah-mazing! My daughter loved her chocolate soft serve too. Cute little spot to enjoy some ice cream after school/work.
The best spot for soft serve. Super busy but the line moves quickly. I recommend Elena's favorite dipped chocolate cone with sea salt. The seasonal flavors change weekly they're so unique and tasty! Check this place out!!
Always ask about the specialty flavor!
Did the Elena's special with the chocolate sauce and sea salt and LOVED it. Throw some nuts or peanut butter chips on it and you basically have a chocolate shell over the ice cream cone.
No pictures because it was just that good
Excellent
Really nice staff! Huge portion! The dipped chocolate was like fudge! It was sooo good! Twist was delicious!
My nephew and I went to Elena's for the first time today. The staff was super friendly and both the inside and the patio were nice and tidy. The ice-cream was absolutely delicious!😋Great atmosphere to relax and enjoy a sweet treat!🍦😃👍🏽

Might be the best soft serve i’ve ever had!! I love their weekly specials and appreciate them trying out new flavor combos!! The first picture is their seasonal sundae (sweet basil soft aerve w/ olive oil, fresh strawberries, and lemon zest!) and the second picture is their hojicha soft serve with their black sesame whipped cream, oreo pieces, and their homemade strawberry sauce (delicious!!). Their flavors are amazing with a perfect balances of creaminess with their unique flavor palettes. A lot of Yale students+faculty (and the new haven community) come here and for a good reason! This is a New Haven Gem for sure :)
Amazing rose and saffron ice cream
Elena’s on Orange ice cream is so delicious I enjoyed the vanilla and chocolate swirl really good.
Soft serve was ok. Flavors available at the time: vanilla, chocolate, and the seasonal flavor of raspberry (if I remember correctly). The raspberry was very delicate, slight.
I had a Whitney sundae: soft serve, pecans, hot fudge and a cherry.
The staff was nice and the area had several tables inside and out.
Overall, a good but not extraordinary, experience.
I've visited this ice cream shop three times in the past three weeks so it’s safe to say I’m a big fan of their ice cream (maybe too big a fan). I’m especially hooked on Elena’s Special, which is absolutely delicious. That said, I wanted to share a couple of experiences that led me to take off a star.
Let’s talk pricing first. Last week, Elena’s Special in a waffle cone cost about $8, and with tip, it came to $9. On Monday, the same order was $9 before tip $10 total but the cone was only half full. Then, on Thursday, I paid $11 before tip for the exact same thing. Different cashiers each time, but Thursday’s cashier itemized everything à la carte, which seemed to drive up the price unnecessarily. It’s frustrating that there’s no consistency in pricing or portion sizes. Maybe most customers wouldn’t notice if they don’t come in often, but I definitely did.
The second reason I deducted a star was the service. On Monday, I arrived right at 2 PM when they opened and was first in line (yes, I’m a little obsessed). A family came in right behind me and, unfortunately, didn’t get helped until 2:10 PM. They were never greeted. The employee wiped down the counters, served me, then disappeared into the back. A second employee came out shortly after to clean up a spill but still didn’t acknowledge the waiting family. It may seem like a small thing, but basic customer service like saying hello or letting people know you’ll be right with them goes a long way.
This is an ice cream shop, after all people come here to enjoy themselves. A smile, a friendly greeting, or even a simple acknowledgment can make a big difference. Please don’t ignore customers who are literally waiting to give you their business.
