Please believe the bad reviews! i didn't and regretted it… food is nasty and over-priced. The shakes aren't that great either! They used the chocolate syrup to make the milkshake not even chocolate ice cream. The place smelled like pee as soon as we walked in. Fried mac and cheese was gross.. Korean fried cauliflower was soggy and disgusting! i have had the same thing at the cheesecake factory a million times and its always crispy and delicious. NEVER AGAIN

We stopped at Epik Diner on our way to Boston. What an amazing experience. Our server Monica was helpful, courteous and provided excellent service. The menu had so many choices that it was hard to pick. All our selections were absolutely delicious. And to top it off the Diner had an amazing selection of desserts. Highly recommend this diner if you’re ever in New Haven.

Epik Diner is a real dining experience that we almost missed. Beautful diner with amazing food selections. The salmon is cooked to perfection. The gyro is tasty. The deserts are prepared with creativity and flavor. The service is excellent. Greek, Italian, salads, American fare. It's all here.We would eat here again and drive to make it an event meal. They need a new sign that catches your attention so you don't miss this amazing restaurant. It was worth the drive from Virginia. Hidden gem.

I was wondering why this place was dead during lunch hour. Between the slow service and the frankly dangerous food, I think this place will be gone sooner rather than later. The servers all are gathered in a corner talking loudly to each other while guests are wondering when they will at least get to order drinks. Let alone food. I went here with my wife for a quick lunch date, (because Katz was too busy). She ordered a small roast beef sandwich and a side salad with no onions. I ordered a buffalo chicken fry bowl. As soon as we saw the food, we knew. Her salad came out with extra onions, and the ROAST BEEF WAS WELL BEYOND SPOILED. I even had the server come and smell the beef, and even she recoiled at the sour smell of the roast beef. My food had obviously been microwaved as the fries were super oily and soft. Some of the fries were green and raw. Never going here again. Please see pictures. You have been warned.

My Dreams Of Life

Epik Diner has delicious food. My favorite thing are the pancakes, which are golden, warm, and fluffy. They give a huge amount of food and the leftover food I brought home stayed fresh throughout a long walk. They also have a variety of beverages. I was intrigued with the different kind of juices. The pineapple juice was really good.

Epik Diner is a great experience with amazing food and service. The selection is extensive from Greek, Italian, American salads and seafood. Their deserts are wonderful.

1 star!!!!! Only positive thing I have to say is that the "food" was on time. I ordered 1 Chicken Gyro pita with NO ONIONS!!!!!!! For my sick, pregnant wife....The chicken gyro pita had EXTRA ONIONS!!!! And I ordered a Pesto Chicken Panini.....I should have just ordered a Chicken onion panini cause I got NO pesto....and too much onion. I don't know if I should blame the "chefs" or the lady taking the order because for those 2 items, it took 8 minutes to place the order because she couldn't understand what I was saying!!

Beyond Me

Quickly becoming my kids favorite place!! We decided to go here for the amazing milkshakes!!! The menu is extensive and amazing. This is definitely a place to bring the family and there absolutely something on the menu for everyone...even ur pickiest eater!! I did not like the French onion soup and that is one of my favorite soups!! It was very salty and had a smokey flavor I did not care for at all!! The other options we chose were ok!!

Three stars at best. We were driving through town and hopped off the highway. My partner was given the wrong order (which, to be fair, they replaced pretty quickly), the homefries were woefully undercooked, toast was flabby and I found what looked like an eyelash in my eggs. No offer of jelly for toast or of a refill for iced tea. They could do better.

Top quality food in New Haven. Great atmosphere. Pleasant staff. Met the owner George who is very friendly and pays attention to detail. The kids absolutely loved the fancy milkshakes. The Greek dish I had was perfect. You know a restaurant is really good when the owner has been featured in a cable TV cooking show. George cooked for Guy Fierre on one of his shows.

We went in on a Friday night at 9:20 or so, and they were mopping the foyer. When we were seated and given the menus, the hostess (?) said they close at 10, and actually looked annoyed that we were there. We didn't want to cause her any problems, so we ordered things that could be made quickly. I ordered a Greek Salad, which came on a plate, with the dressing on the side. I asked for a spoon to load the dressing onto the salad, and never got one. The salad had 2 dolmades, 2 anchovies, two slices of tomato, 2 pepperoncini, and the rest was iceberg lettuce. The salad dressing was SO SALTY, I could barely eat it. This salad was $13.99. SERIOUSLY. My partner was offered a refill on his water, but when I said I would love one too, she ignored me and gave him water. Another waitress who heard me say I wanted water, came over to give me some. I thanked her for profusely. The prices are outrageous. The milkshakes are 13 bucks or more. While we were there, others came in, and ordered far more complicated things than we did, so I am sure the hostess (?) was furious with that. When we went through the vestibule to leave through the front door, we had to turn the key to unlock it. As we did so, we watched other cars coming in, since it was a FRIDAY NIGHT, and it was only 10pm. This place COULD be packed. But the prices, and other difficulties probably will prevent that from happening. Pity. We could use a good diner in the neighborhood.

I really wanted to like this diner, given all the media attention it's received since opening. I was sorely disappointed. The service was mediocre, at best. The waitress was inattentive, and even went so far as to judge my husband's order (saying "that's weird" when he ordered his omelet with turkey sausage in it). My husband's omelet was made incorrectly (no cheese), and the waitress doubted him when he said so. My meal (pancakes) was tasty, but the syrup was definitely cut with water. The dessert case looked appealing but we skipped it, based on the quality of what we'd had thus far. This place doesn't live up to the hype. We won't be back!

This relatively new owner/chef has made good strides to provide the area with quality diner fare, improved space, menu, etc. However his efforts are going to be undermined if he does focus on the service staff and their attention to customers. We wish him well and hope he succeeds

First time here with the family and we had a great experience. The variety of food selection is overwhelmingly good and the food was amazing. Highly recommend trying out the cheesecake.
