I can't believe I had to come all the way to New Haven to get good Puerto Rican food.I got a recommendation to try this place out. I'm glad I did. It has a complete PR feel. The owner greeted me as I came through the door. Everything looked amazing. I just hope it tastes as it looks. There are so many choices. Everything is fresh and made to order, pretty much. I ordered the rice and beans and Carne Frita. This place just happened, he told me. He had been coming here since he was a young man. They left the island and ended up here for good. He decided to open up a restaurant with his wife. This place is authentic. The meals are mix and match. Anyway you want them. People came in asking for different combinations, and there was never an issue. You want beans on the rice and gandules? OK. Whatever you want, they will try and serve. The prices are awesome for the amount of food they give you.For dessert, I got a quesito. It brought me right back to the islands. The whole meal was excellent. The service is outstanding. The whole place gives you a feel of the islands. Everybody who came in while I was there seemed excited to order and eat. I loved it so much that I came back the next morning for coffee and a pastry.I recommend.

Here on a quick vacation. We were looking for a Truly puertorrican restaurant and we found it here. Service was great and attentive. Food quality was also very good. We tried the alcapurrias and jamon, queso & huevo sandwich that were both nice. Definitely coming back before we get back home.

The place and the service were very very good and that is the reason why this review is 4 stars and not less; unfortunately the food was very disappointing to our party of 3. We had the tripleta sandwiches and the papa locas and they were just not up to par. If the food betters this place can be a 5 star spot! The decorations and place have character and you can tell there is plenty of love put into it. I hope to update my review in the future with a 5 star review if the food gets better.

I went there on Sunday to get some food, when you walk in looks nice but it seemed like there wasn't much food, but then I figured out they cook the food in the back, anyways we was greeted and I ordered arroz blanco, y bistec encebollado (white rice & Puerto Rican steak and onions) my boyfriend ordered yellow rice with the same type of meat. Right off the bat he gave us so much rice which we was like wow that's a lot of rice, so you would think you would get a good portion on meat, well you don't, we went home and looked at the food and was HIGHLY disappointed, first off the meat had no sauce what so ever and if you are PR you know with bistec encebollado there is a sauce that the meat and onions are cooked in, well nope it was literally 3-4 small pieces of DRY steak and like 2-3 pieces of under cooked to probably not cooked onions with white rice, my boyfriends meat was the same. I can't even tell you how it taste because we didn't taste it. The only good thing I can say about the place is when I called him and told him about the food he did say come in and we will give you your money back. But for this place to be called Authentic Puerto Rican food is false advertisement because they would have never served anyone that. The only good thing I got from that place was the Alcappuria ( Puerto Rican fritters)
