My husband and I have enjoyed Geronimo's in New Haven for years. We've always felt the drinks were phenomenal and the table side guacamole a hidden gem. This visit the food was OK, table side guacamole didn't seem to have enough bacon or corn, music being played was too loud and the drinks were not up to par. Will give it one more try.
We had a 6:15 outdoor reservation and it was a beautiful night for the patio. Service was good and food was good as usual. Only weird thing is that ad soon as we sat down, a woman came over and told us that there was another reservation for our table at 7:15. I said, well our reservation is for 6:15..? She told us she was just told to come over and tell us that. We stayed past 7:15 and no one ever said anything, but it was just weird.. Like, who gives out a reservation for 1 hour? And then warns you about it as soon as you sit down? The onl thing I can think of is she got the wrong table because the table next to us looked like they had been there a while before us. They also were still going when we left. But no one seemed to come over to tell them they needed to leave. This place is always great. Was just really... Weird.. That they did this.
We sat outside on the patio-- perfect ambiance prior to Shubert performance. Our server, Patrick, was simply amazing- thoughtful, just the right amount of attention, and helpful. We had the guacamole, which was over the top excellent, followed by quesadilla and tacos-- excellent. Have been there before, and will go back again.
Absolutely delicious! We had a lovely brunch before walking over to our show at the Shubert Theater.
Everytime I visit Geronimos food and drinks are amazing! Always looking forward to coming back.
The food was good overall. Service was slow and unfriendly. We sat outside and it was overly loud to a point where it was hard to have a conversation across the table. The music could have been turned down a bit.
Great restaurant. Amazing food. Stellar service. Highly recommend. If sitting outside tho expect a high level of noise from cars and motorcycles speeding by.
I wanted to share some feedback on our recent visit to Geronimos. We had a great time - the music was fantastic, and the food was delicious. Personally, I really enjoyed the salmon dish; it was cooked perfectly to my liking. However, I would like to suggest adding more vegetarian options to the menu for variety. Looking forward to visiting again soon!
The food here was outstanding! My husband had a burrito and I had the shrimp tempura tacos. We had nachos for an appetizer and mimosas as our beverage. The arrive was wonderful and the presentation of the food is noteworthy! The only complaint I had was the that the level of the music playing for a Sunday afternoon was too loud. Conversation was others was difficult.
Food and service was excellent. Our only complaint was the background music was so loud we could not hear the individuals at our table or the waitstaff.

This was a business dinner with guest faculty to attend an education retreat. Everyone had a wonderful time and enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. Thank you all!
This was our first time at Geronimo. Every bite was amazing. We are from the Prix fixe menu for restaurant week. We ordered the birria empanadas and the hanger steak. We added the table side guacamole. Our server, Morgan, was outstanding and friendly. She was there at exactly the right time anticipating our needs. Thank you to all of your staff! We will definitely be back and bring friends.
Geronimo in New Haven delivers a vibrant twist on Mexican cuisine with an impressive cocktail selection to match. The dishes were flavorful and well-prepared—everything from the tacos to the nachos had a fresh, authentic feel. The cocktail options were also top-notch, making it a great spot for drinks with friends. That said, the ambiance could use a little work. The lighting was very dim—borderline too dark to comfortably read the menu. Service was also frustratingly slow; we waited quite a while between appetizers being finished and the main course coming out. And the tables? Packed in very close together, which made it tough to have a private conversation without feeling like you were in someone else's dinner date. Overall, if you're not in a rush and want to enjoy some seriously good food and drinks, Geronimo is worth checking out. Just don't go expecting a quick bite or bright lighting!
We had a great dinner with colleagues while visiting Yale for an executive education program. The food was delicious and our waiter provided great service... we also enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant and would highly recommend it!
We had a great dinner and will be back! Table side guacamole was amazing as usual. We ordered salad, tacos, a burrito and a quesadilla. Everything was delicious.
