We had an absolutely phenomenal experience at Gioia's in New Haven, CT. From the moment we walked in, the service was warm, attentive, and truly made us feel welcomed. Every dish was beautifully presented in classic Italian style, and the flavors were just as impressive. We started with their marinated green olives and the meatballs—both were exceptional and full of authentic Italian flavor. The cocktails were delicious and perfectly balanced. For our main courses, we enjoyed the rigatoni, which was rich, flavorful, and perfectly cooked, and I had the grilled eggplant, which was simply outstanding. And the desserts... perfection. We had the best tiramisu, served in an ice-cream-bowl–style dish with a thin layer of chocolate on top and a touch of sea salt that created the most amazing sweet-salty balance. We also tried the chocolate pudding—silky, rich, and topped with crushed pine nuts, all surrounded by a delicate dash of honey. Absolutely unforgettable. Gioia's delivered on every level—ambience, service, and food. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a memorable Italian dining experience in New Haven!

Saturday night date night/wife's birthday. Decided to venture out to Wooster St. Traffic was crazy, parking almost non-existent. Finally made it into the restaurant and the place was hopping. Fun, lively atmosphere, just what we were hoping for. We were seated at a 2-top which was a bit too cramped for our liking but luckily there were a couple open spots at the bar so we moved. Best decision of the night. We were served by Marcello one of the bartenders, turns out he's Brazilian like my wife so she was happy to speak her native Portuguese. Fantastic guy, fantastic drinks and great food. Everyone that worked there seemed to be extremely friendly and more than happy to offer recommendations from the menu. We will definitely be back to see Marcello and the rest of the staff very soon.

Gioia is a gem! Fantastic food, drinks, service, and ambience. We had the fennel salad, carrots, broccolini, bucatini, and chicken, and everything that hit the table was fantastic. Tried two mocktails and both were delicious! The staff was friendly and attentive, and the vibe was lively. We will absolutely be back!

Fun night with good food and drinks! We shared the cheese platter and some sides (get the carrots, get the potatoes!). We enjoyed the bean soup, pizza and butternut squash ravioli. Our server Alex was terrific.
Came here for an event and had an excellent time. Our waitress was super attentive and never let a cup run empty. The pizza was equally as great.

Parking free right at the restaurant, very convenient. It’s a cute setting, we sat upstairs on a warm fall evening and server was lovely. The main dining room is elegant and there’s a fun little shop. Though the food is delicious, (non pizza items) portions are too small, that’s why I give it 3 stars.. Gelato was offered as a nice treat.

exactly 1 month ago i celebrated my birthday on the rooftop. they don’t normally take reservations up there, but for the special occasion and party size (14) they were very accommodating and willing to help me celebrate :) shout out to our server and bartender that night - Christine & Jesus!! 🫶🏽
