The food was absolutely delicious. I started with their spicy jerk chicken, which had the perfect balance of smoky and spicy flavors.
The service was warm and welcoming, and Andreas made sure we felt at home. Prices were reasonable for the quality and portion sizes.

Andrea has been the most accommodating owner I know. Always greeted with a smile and a comforting energy. The food is absolutely amazing. The atmosphere is welcoming. I have never had one single complaint and I’ve been coming since day 1, 5 years ago. From the red snapper, to the curry chicken, curry shrimp, oxtail, brown stew chicken, it all hits for me. The white rice has just enough flavoring to where you can eat it alone with the right texture and I’m a big texture person and a foodie). But the SOUP, yeah….LIKE THAT. Love this spot.

So I literally've been coming to this restaurant before they were popular before they had a "liquor license". I USED TO HAVE A HOUSE DOWN THE STREET BUT I MOVE SO I DON'T COME AS OFTEN AND NOW THEY GOT NEW PEOPLE WORKING HERE!!! I actually know the owner's mother personally and they have just got out of control with the prices. Price "GOUGING" I just had be ABRUPT with the lady because she wants to charge me more for more Cabbage ($2) which I'm just trying to tell her i've been coming to this restaurant for years, and I never pay more for my cabbage. I want less rice more cabbage, I'm not a rice eater I want less rice more vegetables. I'm not a rice eater. All THOSE CARBS AREN'T GOOD FOR YOU!!! Don't give me 3 scoops of rice and one scoops of veggie!!!!! THAT'S NOT HEALTHY ANYWAY!!! THEY LOST MY BUSINESS. I'M GOING TO THE HILL/ JAAMMIN' OR I CAN GO RIGHT DOWN TO ISLAND SPICE, IT'S ALL THE SAME😊

"Wheather" positive or negative, the owner needs to learn how to take constructive criticism!!! EVERYONE who says something negative, get BELITTLED OR TALK TO IN A CONDESCENDING TONE!!! Which is not okay. I know you guys are ignorant, cause you don't even know the difference between weather and "WHEATHER" 😜 and it's price GOUGUNG, not gorging😭 NEXT TIME YOU TRY TO BE SMART AND TELL SOMEBODY OFF MAKE SURE YOU KNOW HOW TO SPELL!!!! I stated that I knew the owner's family because I was BEHOOVE ME that Christians and "GOD FAIRING" people are getting over on everyday hard working people! BECAUSE SHE THOUGHT I WAS SOMEBODY WHO DIDN'T FREQUENT THE RESTAURANT. MAKE IT MAKES SENSE!!! FYI GOD RAINS ON THE JUST AND THE UNJUST!!! BUT YOU KNOW WHAT THE GOOD BOOK SAY ABOUT SOWE BAD SEEDS YOU'RE GONNA REAP!!! I KNOW I'M FREE TO SPEND MY MONEY WHEREVER I WANT. THAT'S WHY I WALK RIGHT OUT AND RIGHT DOWN THE ISLAND SPICE AND GOT MY LUNCH WHICH WAS BLAZING AND GUESS WHAT JUST TWENTY DOLLARS! RED OEA SOUP & CURRY GOAT!!! Best Jamaican food I’ve had yet! Great staff who love what they do and put pride in what they serve. Anyone who wants to try some great, authentic Jamaican food and have some good vibes, this is the place to come! 😁

Awesome food, friendly staff and great atmosphere. Everything on the menu is on point but my go to’s are the brown stewed chicken, oxtails and shrimp tacos. You will not be disappointed

This is the best place for Jamaican food in New Haven! There is no debate on this at all. Great place to come and dine-in. The atmosphere gives you an island vibe and the customer service is amazing. The owner interacts with her guest and so pleasant. Great place to eat authentic Jamaican food.

Not only is the food Amazing, but also the Atmosphere and the Owners are Amazing! This is the best Jamaican Restaurant that I have been to.

We order from my work place and my coworker orders the shrimp platter this what it is in the picture not worth $20 at all we could’ve made shrimp meals for at least 2 people at home for that amount just saying

The entire layout of this restaurant is very classy and cozy. The staff is welcoming and professional and their food is the best in area. I’ve been in New Haven for almost 2months and this is the only restaurant that I continue to place recurring orders and I had the pleasure of meeting the staff in person today. I bought a large oxtail and not one but 3 sorrel beer. Worth every dollar. Beautiful and blessed ppl. Don’t hesitate to check them out. You won’t regret it.
