The food was a 2/10 and they only got a 2 because the chicken wasn’t too bad. I’m convinced the chicken is from a. Chinese restaurant. Mac and cheese and a few pieces of yams ?? terrible. Soul food shouldn’t be that hard to cook. It seems like they’re afraid to use seasoning. Everything was just terrible

Ordered off Uber Eats a Big Boy I believe it came with 4 sides Mac and Cheese, Cabbage, potato Salad and Yams. Only the Yams were edible. It also came with 2 sides of meat I got fried whitings and fried boneless Chyna they were both flavor less. No seasoning at all.

Used to love coming here but in recent times since they have all those Indians cooking ( and yes I've seen them cooking the food) the taste has gone to trash the food is very bland and tasteless I know damn well ain't no Black person cooking that trash mac and cheese with unseasoned food, Indians can't cook Soul food. Not forgetting the prices keep increasing the portions get smaller and the taste is Nasty... On a side note the customer service is good when I complained the Rasta girl with the Caribbean accent was very professional and courteous she apologized and even offered me a replacement meal or a refund which I didn't want.. Wish they could get back to the way they're Soul Food used to be.

Order off uber eats. Nasty period. I wish I could find 1 decent soul food place in New Haven. The serving you get for the amount you paid would be a problem if the food wasn't so bland. The chittlins aren't chittlins they're hogmaws full of vinegar not a chitt or lin was in it and you pay a handsome for hogmaws. $25.00 for hogmaws. Dead wrong for that.

I am a New Haven native. I ha e always seen this hidden gem just never went in the restaurant. Well I'm here to inform you the food was um um good. It wasn't salty. I ordered fried chicken (who can go wrong with chicken),yams and string beans. Whoa it was soo good and the sweet tea is on point!! My sister ordered pork chops,collard greens and Mac and cheese. She was pleased just as well as I was. Go visit Mama Mary's Soul Food on Whalley. You will not be disappointed

Service is awful. Very put off by the attitude of staff as you get the feeling u are interrupting them from more important things. Food is excellent if u can get past sassy waitstaff.
