I’m not sure if it was an off day, but this was top five worst experiences I’ve ever had dining out. It was very busy at first and we took that as a good sign. However, the crowd dwindled dramatically and we waited for over an hour (along with other groups) for a breakfast burrito and pancake sandwich. The burrito was 75% rice, egg dry, chew, and a little funky and the pancakes weren’t fully cooked. Respectfully, $30 was absolutely not worth this.
Service was okay. The only interaction we had was at the register and it was minimal.

Tried to visit in a Sunday morning. They didn't seem very busy. We waited more than an hour for our food, and then when it came out, they only had 3/5 people's orders. We then learned they hadn't even started the other two people's food (one of whom was a child). They were not even apologetic. Will not go here again.

I've been there just by myself and went back with both of my parents on separate occasions. The burrito was good but the sandwiches are pure bliss. Affordable, delicious, and a quick walk from my house. This is in the top 10 for New Haven cafes.

Manjares Café in New Haven, Connecticut, is a delightful gem that perfectly blends a cozy atmosphere, flavorful cuisine, and exceptional service. Nestled at 382 West Rock Avenue, this Latin-inspired café offers a variety of fresh and healthy menu options, making it an ideal spot for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

During my visit, I enjoyed a lunch that left a lasting impression. The beef tacos were prepared exactly as I ordered – perfectly seasoned, tender, and served with just the right accompaniments to enhance their flavor. Paired with a vibrant green smoothie, my meal was both satisfying and refreshingly healthy. It’s clear that Manjares takes pride in using high-quality ingredients, with an emphasis on local and organic sourcing.

The menu features a variety of options, from European-style pastries to Spanish-inspired dishes like paella, empanadas, and tapas. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick coffee or looking for a full meal, there’s something for everyone. The café’s ability to cater to different dietary preferences is another highlight, as their offerings include a wide range of healthy and flavorful choices.

Beyond the food, the atmosphere at Manjares is warm and inviting. The staff are friendly and attentive, creating a welcoming environment that makes you feel right at home. The café’s location near Edgewood Park adds to its charm, offering a scenic backdrop for outdoor seating.

Manjares isn’t just a place to eat; it’s a community hub where excellent food, thoughtful service, and a pleasant ambiance come together seamlessly. Whether you’re a local or just passing through New Haven, I highly recommend visiting Manjares for a dining experience that is both comforting and memorable

Came here for lunch during the week. I sat outside as it was a nice day. I ordered their fig and Brie Sandwich with a chai latte. The fig was explained that it would be almost like a chutney jam. It was definitely not. It was large pieces of figs put on bread with Brie. The balance was completely off. It did not taste good at all and the texture was very off putting. The pieces should have been chopped, much finer as well as it wasn't chutney or jam. The bread was good, The cheese was good. The chai latte tasted completely watered down and was practically flavorless. I was also charged almost $6 for a large and half of it was just foam. I didn't enjoy my lunch. The waiter was nice and Attentive. the outdoor seating was nice. This is my second time here and I would rate the food less than average. I would only come back here to sit outside on a nice day, order a coffee and get one of their pastries but I can't really recommend it for much else.

There was a private event going on so we weren't able to dine there. We ate at the restaurant next door and when we passed by I saw that the event was over and they were open so we went in for dessert. My daughter liked her blueberry muffin but my chocolate croissant was dry and stale.

Absolute homerunner of a brunch spot in Westville. Best brunch spot in the neighborhood!!! I literally dream of their roasted turkey sandwich (I didn't even think I like turkey like that before getting it here). I come back often, all their food has been delicious. Juices and smoothies are great too. Service can be a bit slow sometimes but it's always worth the wait. I bring all friends visiting me in CT to Manjares bc it's so good and I want to share it with people I care about :)
