If you’ve got a hankering for genuine Korean “soup rice,” you’ve found it. Rarely do I give praise for Korean food outside of NYC/NJ, LA, or NOVA, but this place is legit - kimchi is perfect along with the two dishes we tried (Soondae Guk and Samgyetang).

Soooo freaking good, and seemingly better than all other Korean spots in the area. Great food, excellent price, some of the best Korean I’ve had. I almost hesitate to give it a review because I’m afraid this “under the radar” spot might blow up, but I couldn’t not!!

I've been here twice now and have really enjoyed my meal both times. I brought my parents who were visiting from out of town and they said it was their favorite meal of their trip. The restaurant space is very clean and the atmosphere is nice with Korean ballads playing. The staff is always very friendly and attentive to me. This is now my go-to when I want something nice and warm!

Very rich food, good portions too, we left very full. Super authentic👌 Service was fine, not slow nor fast and the waiter was kind. The atmosphere is very homey and cozy, despite being minimalistic in itself. Definitely coming back.

Glad that this new Korean place is in New Haven, a city that's been lacking solid Korean restaurants.

Mr. CookBop is an absolute must-try for anyone craving delicious, authentic Korean food in New Haven! The flavors are bold, fresh, and comforting—every dish is clearly made with care and attention to detail. Their Korean fried chicken is crispy and flavorful, and the bibimbap is perfectly balanced with fresh veggies, savory beef, and a satisfying gochujang kick.
The staff is super friendly and welcoming, and the vibe of the place is cozy and modern. Whether you're dining in or grabbing takeout, the service is consistently fast and attentive. It’s a great spot for both Korean food newbies and seasoned fans.
Portion sizes are generous, prices are fair, and the quality is outstanding. Highly recommended—Mr. CookBop is definitely a gem in New Haven’s food scene!

This place is very minimal and neat. The atmosphere is really relaxing. The owner is very nice, friendly, and checked up on us as we ate. The food was very fresh, especially the side dishes, and authentic. The portions were very filling as well. The menu is also changed daily according to the owner. Service was amazing overall.

The food is really good and authentic and the owner is super nice and friendly. Unfortunately the Sundae Guk was unavailable, so I ordered Mr. Cookbop instead and it's still so good. I'll def come back to try the Sundae Guk

I was hanging out in New Haven with a friend when we randomly saw a Korean place called Mr. Gukbap. I had no idea there would be Korean food here, so I got super excited!
The place was clean, the waiter was really nice, and the prices were great. I didn’t expect much, but… wow. It was SO good.
I ordered the pork soup (dwaeji-gukbap), and my friend got the gamjatang (spicy pork bone stew). And let me tell you — the gamjatang was amazing! Not just because we were hungry — it was legit delicious.
The pork soup was good too, but the gamjatang was so tasty that I couldn’t stop eating my friend’s. 😂 I totally recommend the gamjatang — 100%!
I live in NYC, so I’m not sure when I’ll be back, but if I do come again, I’m getting the gamjatang all to myself! The waiter also said the bulgogi is really good, so I want to try that next time too.
