Katie was amazing! We walked in and she made us feel right at home. She made the most delicious sandwich. Best late night food on state street!!!!

Great food and very flexible with what they can add/take away! Note that the only seating is outdoors and prepare accordingly

I got the Canadian Tux. Flavor and portion was good but the bacon in the bacon jam was a little chewy. Fix that and it will be a perfect sub.

This little sandwich shop is absolutely amazing. Without a doubt one of the best sandwiches I have ever had and the caveman fries were fantastic. I highly recommend this place.

Sometimes the best stories don’t start with a plan. My wife and I were out in Yonkers, NY, doing Instacart runs, and somehow the day pulled us an hour and 20 minutes north, deep into New Haven, CT. Hungry, tired, and just about ready to call it a night, we stumbled across a little hidden spot called Munchies.
And when I say “hidden,” I mean it—this is the type of hole-in-the-wall shop you’d never find if you went searching for it. Picture this: two road-weary travelers, neon glow outside, and a kitchen-sized shop that looked like it had a secret to tell.
Inside, the magic wasn’t just in the food—it was in the hands of a woman who I can only assume was the owner. Running the whole show, she cooked with the kind of passion you can taste in every bite. The sandwiches? Absolute perfection—layers of flavor, fresh, bold, unforgettable. The cheese fries? Golden, crispy, and smothered in cheesy greatness that felt like pure comfort on a plate. My wife and I just looked at each other mid-bite, speechless, both thinking: “We found it.”
This wasn’t just dinner. It was a moment. A scene straight out of a movie where an unexpected turn leads you right to the best part of the story. Exceptional food, heartfelt service, and an experience my wife and I will never forget.
If New Haven has a hidden treasure, Munchies—and the powerhouse woman running it—are it.

I never write reviews but I have to for Munchies. I have been here several times since finding it on the food network show and it’s really the best sub I’ve ever had. Chick Norris (if it returns), Material Gworl, and the Chopped Cheese are standouts. The fries/cheese fries with “crack” salt hit so hard it’s addicting. Definitely worth the money. Come try MUNCHIES ASAP !!

These are hands down some of the BEST sandwiches I have ever had. I had the El Guapo and my husband had the Canadian Tux. Both had very unique flavor combinations. If we lived in Conneticut we would be regulars.
