Rude host rolled eyes when we asked to move from under a cold air blowing vent. Called us "unreasonably fussy" and rolled his eyes in a restaurant that was still 90% empty. If friends weren't joining, we would have left. Apparently, we should have. Two of the three appetizers were wrong. Took 35 minutes for them to come the second time when it took 6 minutes the first time. Almost like someone had to run out to the market to grab the ingredients... Then my fiend who has a nut and seed allergy asked twice if the bread her meal came on had any seeds or nuts. She was assured it didn't. It did!!! Seeds all over and inside the bun. My fish was completely raw inside and barely cooked on the outside. And the seafood/lobster risotto of another dish was generic pearl couscous. We asked for a manger and left opting to graciously pay for our drinks. Upon exiting friends passing on the street who live there said they had walked out just two days prior from a rude host and the wrong food being brought and being told... it's busy, it might be an hour before you get food again. The host then threatened them to call the cops for not paying for their drinks... NEVER go here!!! I know they are closed now for pick up only, but I wouldn't expect the correct food to be delivered And btw, I took one bite of the asparagus and risotto side to my fish, first off it was pearl couscous not the risotto the menu said... and it wasn't cooked well and the asparagus had grit on it.

Although PARK is a beer garden/bar space, their food is amazing!! Definitely better than your average bar fare -- small but solid selection of German-style eats. The bratwurst sausage was meaty and flavorful. It came with a buttered and toasted brioche bun (great sausage to bread ratio!), sautéed peppers and a spicy mustard. The veggie pie was well-stuffed and had a flaky pastry shell. I would've liked more seasoning in the filling (herb crème dip was light) but solid choice overall 10/10 would recommend the drinks (especially Pimm's Cup). Perfect for big groups - spacious seating and board games available!

After first reading about this place in the New Haven Independent, I decided to troop out here at my earliest convenience. That time happened to be when the temperature had nosedived down in the mid-20s, but it turned out to have been totally worth indulging my curiosity. What once was just a parking garage has been turned into a wonderful new addition to the city. The space is open and inviting, with plenty of seating to go around. The only part of the drinks selection I admittedly looked at were the beers, which are a good selection of German styles that you can get a big glass mug of and drink at your own leisure inside the spacious environment. The bartender, Nick, provided excellent and friendly service as he answered all my questions while I poured over my options before settling on a Counterweight kellerbier. As nice as the new setting is, what really makes PARK a delight is its food menu. There's a selection of bar bites, sandwiches, and salads that all look quite tasty, and what really sticks out is the array of German-style savory pies that are unlike anything else one will find here in the city. These gold and flakey, treats all come with just the right amount of a perfectly-matched dipping sauce. I ended up ordering the chicken pie with its tomato soup dipping sauce and ended up demolishing both of them quite quickly. I also confess to also ordering and devouring the comfortingly cheesy kasepatzle as well, and if my menu selections are any indicator, this is the kind of establishment where you will be happily satisfied with whatever you order. PARK on Crown is definitely the kind of place I will be happy to hike through the bitter cold to visit yet again. Or in the sweltering heat, or pouring rain, or near any weather. The space, drinks, and food all make for a marvelously casual spot that has become a new favorite of mine.

Okay, this is definitely an awesome new spot! Previously a parking garage, the neon sign has been reinvented as the name for this beer garden on Crown St. The front, long room has a gigantic living plant wall and lots of couches, chairs and tables. The front 'window' is actually a garage door, which I'm hoping they would open up in the summer (like they do next door at BAR). We grabbed a table and perused the menu - they have food in addition to the drinks which I wasn't expecting. They have beers, wine, and cocktails. I initially wanted a glass of prosecco (my go-to) but they were out!! :( So instead I ordered a Pimm's Cup, one of my favorite cocktails. It was fantastic - fizzy, tangy, perfect! Most of the wines and cocktails were about $9. My friend and I went to the bar at one point to check out the entire space and it's well laid out - a large, square bar with seating on either 3 or all 4 sides. We spoke to the bartender (who told us not to quote him) but there's a possibility that the owners may put something on the rooftop as well. GREG, I hope you're not lying to me! Haha. Sorry Greg. You're a good bartender though! This will definitely be a happening spot - it was plenty busy last night. I think it will do very well as basically the only beer garden downtown. My husband also commented that he liked the fact PARK closes at midnight (rather than 2 am) because it probably reduces the drunkenness that can result from having clientele until last call. I will definitely come back (and have plans to go back this Thursday!) Great addition to downtown.

Finally, a place to relax on Crown St! Having stopped in several times now, I can't get enough of the outside-come-inside aesthetic. When you walk in you can see lots of lounge space, tables, couches, etc. Here, you order at the bar and grab your own food from the window. I appreciated the efficiency of this method, for a quick bite it feels much faster than typical restaurant service. On that note, it's a beer hall so the vibe is definitely a bit more relaxed than some of the more fancy-pants restaurants in the area. Personally, I love this because it feels like a great spot to hang out!

I really love the space and the menu. The beer could use a slight shift to some local beers. Maybe an offering from New England Brewing? I understand the German theme, but utilize the local resources that we all love.
