Cute cafe with excellent coffee. Great environment to hang out for a while and get some work or reading done.

Great place for a Sunday brunch or afternoon coffee! I’ve enjoyed the indoor and outdoor seating throughout the seasons. Service is at an ordering counter and is fast, and seating is simple/clean! Love the waffles, specialty coffees, etc.

I’ve only been here twice and the service is absolutely horrible. Why are you in customer service if you don’t like talking to people. Feels like it’s the owners son or something. Not going back - thought is was just an off day but came back two months later and same uptight service. Byeeeeee

Poppy is a nice place on Whitney Avenue. It is kinda oasis because there's no place to take a break after Edward's street toward to Hamden. Nice coffee to grab, great music and clean shop, it makes my walking cozy.

Hot chocolate was ok, not recommended
First visit here really fell short. Person at register wasn’t very friendly. Cortado was the best part, but we didn’t receive the proper milk that was requested & when asked, we were assured it was, although it truly was not. I had to send back the poached eggs for being overcooked, then couldn’t even eat the replacement order that was severely undercooked. The Hollandaise sauce was flavorless and the english muffin was barely toasted. Coconut quinoa porridge was tasty but a tad sweet and runny. The whole meal lacked presentation and freshness.

Coffee is good. Food is average and overprice. Mostly self-serve. The sitting outside is nice.

Place looks nice, plenty of space between tables and feels clean in general, although the floors could have used a bit more care.
We ordered chocolate chip pancakes, Poppy’s Breakfast, and Sweet Potato Benedict.
The pancakes were great, although we asked for no butter on top and they came out with butter.
The Benedict was undercooked and way too watery.
Poppy’s Breakfast was smaller than expected. The home fries were cold in spots as though they had come out of the refrigerator and weren’t reheated thoroughly.
I was served coffee that was lukewarm and stale and they switched it out when I said something.
Overall not satisfied. Better options for breakfast in the area.

Breakfast is good but their coffee is really bad and I changed it twice and still haven't been able to drink it.

The two men that helped me at the counter were so sweet! And the food was impeccable per usual. I love coming here for a quick bite. Oh! And the matcha!! Best matcha I’ve ever had and I’ll die on that grave

We did doordash. I ordered a breakfast burrito and in the picture on doordash it shows home fries that I didn't get and the picture of the burrito just looks so much better like with the sauce and avocado. I had none of that. I was refunded on doordash. My latte sucked as well, but I think that's because you gotta get good coffee drinks in person.

Cute breakfast/brunch. Lots of great food and drinks choices. I got the 3 egg omelet with the berry matcha which was very good. Will be back!

Both times I’ve gone in at about 3pm, an hour before they’ve closed. Both times, I walk up to the counter, and multiple people behind it just stare at me from the kitchen, clearly talk about me and no one comes up to help. It’s the least welcoming greeting I’ve ever gotten at a cafe, now twice from them. They also put all the chairs up on top of tables an hour early - literally every single chair except for the ones being sat in, and even the ones immediately around the seated customers. I can’t believe the passive aggression and I’d be SO uncomfortable if I were those dining-in customers who still had food being carried out to their table from the kitchen. Impossible to relax. I work in service myself and this is pitiful
They truly lost a customer. I enjoyed their drinks and wanted to go in a little before 3pm today, but their unwelcoming atmosphere is keeping me away
