Cute breakfast/brunch. Lots of great food and drinks choices. I got the 3 egg omelet with the berry matcha which was very good. Will be back!

Both times I’ve gone in at about 3pm, an hour before they’ve closed. Both times, I walk up to the counter, and multiple people behind it just stare at me from the kitchen, clearly talk about me and no one comes up to help. It’s the least welcoming greeting I’ve ever gotten at a cafe, now twice from them. They also put all the chairs up on top of tables an hour early - literally every single chair except for the ones being sat in, and even the ones immediately around the seated customers. I can’t believe the passive aggression and I’d be SO uncomfortable if I were those dining-in customers who still had food being carried out to their table from the kitchen. Impossible to relax. I work in service myself and this is pitiful

They truly lost a customer. I enjoyed their drinks and wanted to go in a little before 3pm today, but their unwelcoming atmosphere is keeping me away

I live a few blocks from Poppy’s and when I am low on groceries will walk down to get breakfast, but I always brace myself for the inexplicably chilly interaction with of one of the workers in particular. This person seems incapable of smiling, let alone making small talk, thereby creating what I have come to accept as an almost comically hostile experience literally every visit (they seem to be working often). It’s been a few years now and I keep coming back only because it’s the closest place to get breakfast, and because the BECA burrito is solid, but find this totally bewildering. Skimming through reviews here I see that this vibe is a longstanding feature.

Oh my goodness! My first day in New Haven and I found the best cafe ever! I was greeted with an inviting smile and served the best churro waffles and espresso ever! I appreciate how the barista and cashier personally delivered my coffee and breakfast to me out in the patio. The experience was top notch!! I totally recommend the cafe as I will be returning as much as possible.
Thank you Poppy’s for making me feel at home!🙂

Another delicious breakfast today! I appreciate how my food and service were on point even though they were slammed with customers. Great job, Poppy’s!! 10/10

Nice acai bowl. Wish it had more toppings but great otherwise!

Just moved to Canner Street was sort of excited there was a coffee shop within walking distance. It was very unwelcoming. Neither the cashier nor barista showed interest in acknowledging or interacting in any way, no smiles, no good mornings. I will not return. There are many other coffee houses that have been existence for a long time that I don’t mind walking farther too

I used to really like this place and visited often despite the high prices. On a day when I brought my friends, we had a long conversation, but one of the staff kept giving us uncomfortable looks. It felt like they were implying we should leave if we weren't going to order more. I’ve lost my favorite spot and don’t think I’ll be coming back.

I like this olace, but tasted batter in the eggs...I know some places will use that to make eggs "fluffy" but for the price, I want all the eggs. Also the price for pancakes is way too high...$14 & $16 seems a bit much. Wonderful staff and very clean restaurant.

Little gem near Yale! great for breakfast! The avocado toast is scrumptious. Lattes are done right. It does get crowded but the line moves quickly and the tables open up regularly. It is an order at the counter and seat yourself place. There are tables outside for warmer weather. Street parking only.

Calm peaceful environment for a nice sit down breakfast. Had the breakfast burrito and the BEC both were very good. Would recommend this place for a nice sit down breakfast.

Had a really good experience here! Would go back. Only complaint was that service was a little slow, however I was not in a major rush so it did not bother me.
