The macaroni is absolutely atrocious. I have a feeling they just sprinkled cheese on top of cooked macaroni noodles. Brisket was doused in BBQ to hide the poor quality.

Being from Alabama, we have a high standard for BBQ. Ricky D’s is the best BBQ we have found in New Haven. The sauce is so good we brought home a bottle. The buffalo wings slapped as well. Definitely going to be a staple for us.
Food was dry, the Mac n cheese didn’t have flavor , the chicken wings were dry and tough the brisket tasted burnt more fat then meat corn bread wasn’t good the loaded potato was blend the sour cream tasted old overall the food was bad and not worth the

I got ripped off with my order. I purchased a large brisket dinner and when I got home it looked like someone was snacking on my food. I would never lie on a business or play with anyone’s name but Ricky Ds really played me ? I opened the box and this is what I saw. I didn’t take any pieces before I snapped this picture. This is $24 worth of BBQ??

I ordered a BBQ dinner, which came with two sides. First let me tell im from North Carolina. The bbq was not my favorite, the two sides I received were macaroni and cheese and collard greens. Greens were watery no taste, mac and cheese was horendous not to mention the sides came in minature bite size cups. I was shocked that the food wasn't bussin. If you want good mac and cheese and bbq go to sandras restaurant or ask your mother to make it.
Somebody finally got it right! This was my first visit to the location on Winchester Ave, New Haven CT, in the Science Park District. I was truly impressed. The atmosphere is clean, inviting, and family-friendly. The barbecue ribs were tender, juicy, and smoked to perfection. I met the owner, Ricky D, who has his own signature BBQ sauce and seasonings. His BBQ has just the right amount of twang & heat. We tried the wings as well with baked beans and cole slaw. Dinners come with 2 sides & cornbread. We had Mac & Cheese & Collard Greens, which were absolutely delicious. You can tell that Ricky D puts his heart & soul into what he does. If you are looking for BBQ I highly recommend Ricky D's Rib Shack. The next time, I'm going to try his brisket. With that being said, I'll be back!

Best ribs and BBQ in New Haven and it's not even close. Ricky's is an absolute gem that people who love that fall-off-the-bone flavor need to seek out. Ribs, brisket, I've tried it all and have never once had a bad meal there. I've been multiple times and will continue to go see Ricky whenever I get the itch for BBQ. Top notch catering too. Far and away better than the rest of the competition in New Haven. His Kansa-Lina sauce and rub are an amazing combo.

Food is decent enough but they overcharge you for food items that you didn't receive. Also the customer service could be better.

Whenever I go to New Haven, I always stop in Ricky D's for a pound of smoked Brisket. I take the sauce on the side. I'm a purest about my ribs, brisket and pulled pork and can attest to Ricky D's authenticity. They make THE BEST smoked brisket this side of Kansas City! Even better than Jack Stack. You must try it. You'll like it.
