This authentic Italian deli can't be beat. Excellent selection of fresh produce, cold cuts, cheese, imported goods, and other groceries. Sandwiches are awesome. Great espresso too. Outdoor seating with a casual atmosphere.

Stopped for an Espresso (as good as I've had) and bottle of R&C's signature EVOO (imported from Italy and of outstanding quality) on the way from NY to my home in Boston- having moved from New Haven a few years ago- to be greeted by the owner as though I had been in just yesterday. I always feel welcome at this neighborhood gem. Super people, fine quality; R&C is a New Haven institution. R&C perfectly encapsulates the small-town charm of East Rock and New Haven.

Been coming here since I was a kid. The food is nice, the prices are not bad, but most importantly, the music they play in the background is always a jam. Also the people who work there are friendly

A fantastic family owned business that treats everyone who enters their doors like family!

My kids regularly stop in for caprese sandwiches. They don't like caprese sandwiches at other shops. They specifically seek Romeo and Cesare's. I love that there are folks here who know them and treat them well. The prices of their go-to sandwiches have gone up from $6.95 to $8.95, though, and the other snacks, drinks, and sweets they pick up while there have always been pricey, so we've been really limiting the trips.

Fresh food, produce, everything… for a real treat, ask Fran to make you a coffee!
I used to go there a lot the food was always good but this particular time I ordered some fish and some chicken and when I got into the car and decided to sample the fish it was so dry I couldn't even cut it with a knife it was so dry the , I brought it back the owner got shity with me what do you mean you don't know what you're talkin about that's not overcooked I said I've been a chef for 35 years you can eat it so he got real upset with me I'll never go back

I tired the chicken cutlet for the first time after a friend recommended it, but it looked and tasted like it was left on the counter for 2 days. The meat was so hard, dry and rubbery. It didn't even look like chicken. I most likely won't be going back.

Excellent, local Italian grocery, with friendly staff, nice selections, and even a solid cafe menu. I especially recommend getting an item from the pastry case, Romeo and Cesare's has the best Tiramisu in town.
