A fantastic steak and chicken burrito at just the right price. ($10) The two hot sauces knives it out of the park. Will definitely be going back again.

The best taco for $1.50 and the guy had the best customer service he was polite and professional. I was eating at Ixtapa for $2 taco and it was just okay and then I switched to "la Petrona " for $1.50 a taco and it was bad now I'm w Mexicalli and I think its the best all around.

Went on a solo Birria taco crawl.. I have to say, this came out on top! Service was quick with a smile.... Tacos may be a bit more expensive than other places BUT they're FULL of meat and cheese... The broth is not oily at all like other places (yuck)... the green salsa is delish! There was no line which makes me think this is the hidden secret! Great job guys!!!! My belly is thanking you.... I'm glad you're only ten min away!

Of all the Long Wharf taco trucks, I find Mexcalli to be the most consistent when it comes to flavor. 20+ visits and their tacos and chalupas are delicious every time.

This was our second time coming to food truck paradise and we came specifically to come to Mexcalli black food truck. The last time we came here was because we were passing through Connecticut on our way back home from New York to Massachusetts. We didn't see a long line on this truck but we decided to go here because of the taco prices. Cheap is my kind of language! Haha! Each taco was $1.50. After ordering the first time we were hooked! These were the best street tacos I've ever had in my life. My husband and I are Latinos and we eat our fair share of tacos so we take our hats off to this couple. They are some taco masters. Just be aware that this truck takes their time to cook your meal but it's worth the wait. Faster doesn't always mean better. Our second time we knew to order six tacos each instead of four because the tacos are much smaller. Make sure to ask for all the toppings. (Cilantro, onion, and radish) Also, don't forget the green guacamole sauce. It's the best and it's dairy free! My husband was really excited about that. I'm usually a carne asada taco type of person but the real stars here are the tacos de lengua (beef tongue) and the al pastor. The beef tongue is tender and the al pastor is sweet and not overly spiced or dry. It's hard to get pork with the right level of sweet and juiciness. Mexcalli knows how to do it! We also had a mango purée drink that was delicious. We'll be back on our next trip passing Connecticut. :)

I've been coming here for years and they never disappoint. Everything I've ordered was without a doubt fresh. They prepare and cook the food on the spot, the kitchen is always spotless. Staff is always courteous and kind. It's the best truck in my opinion on Long Wharf. I just wish I wasn't so forgetful of checking in to places lately, haha. Do yourself a favor and try it out! The lengths tacos are on point!

What a night of taste! That Michelle for your eye catching ability; being the first and only truck of the nigh the prices to be more than sufficient, sorry not sorry I dislike when I eat something and feel like I have to go.... well, you get the idea, I asked the chefs " what do you recommend?" He said "Pues, el pollo esta buen sabroso" so I ordered the best chicken tacos I've had! It was like I was welcomed into their home and I watched as Tias and Titis come to gather and abuelas are slightly and skillful my while building their pide show them how to be women and the Tias to the Titis.. it felt like it was served with a smiling face, joyful to be able to include you into their world, How amazingly welcomed you feel, even with the smell Again thank you for the amazing CHICKEN tocas

This is a relatively simple mexican truck in Long Wharf, New Haven. Tostada was my favorite. It was very crunchy. Chalupas de pollo was good too. Horchata drink was really good. They will even give a sample if you want to try before purchasing. $3 for horchata felt a bit expensive though.

This review is truly a 3.5 as of my rating on my YouTube Channel for this location. The elote was spicy and it hit the back of my throat lightly. Nothing that one could not handle and I asked for it spicy when given the option. Buttery and savory for the parmesan added a nice little touch to my corn.....Need we even discuss the corn game at all? My niblets were crisp and every bite was made for my enjoyment, right out the gate! We only fell short when it came to my steak quesadilla. Not so much the steak itself for it was ok but my cheese was not completely melted and so it changed the consistency of my bite and left something to be desired, yet it was still decent all the same.

The prices are right and the tacos are simple and tasty. $5 will get you a decent lunch here. The tacos were topped with onions and cilantro and a lime and radish slices were provided on the side. The chicken taco was pretty bland but it's only $1.50. You live and you learn. The other meats I got (lengua and al pastor) more than made up for it. Just give them a shot.

Another weekend day & the wife wanted tacos. Of course being from Souther California, who am I to say no? We parked right in front of Santa Apolonia with the intention of walking down to a different truck. The gentleman taking orders stopped me & asked if I wanted a sample. He said it was the best truck. Figured "why not?" Sampled the asada. Wow. Wow, wow, wow. & even better in tacos & burritos. They had a spread of chips & salsa for free. & each dish came with fresh homestyle. AND they gave my kids some candy. So worthy. So, SO worthy. We now have our go-to!

It's hard to make a quesadillas stand out, the ingredients are pretty standard and most taste pretty similar. However, my quesadilla from here stands out from the rest. It was the most flavorful and freshest quesadilla I've ever had. The pico was amazing and the ingredient combination was just right. I especially loved the avocado, which was included, but is typically only offered at an additional price. To be fair, I'm not too adventurous when it comes to food and my go-to Mexican dish is typically a quesadilla, so I've had more than my fair share. Basically, I consider myself an above-average, experienced quesadilla critic. In a world filled of dozen of food trucks in Long Wharf, I picked this particular one, and I'm so happy I did. The menu looked good, the truck looked clean and the line wasn't too long (I'm not sure why). They also take credit cards, which was an added bonus. With a drink, my meal came to $9 and I loved every bite and I'm totally full. The BF ordered from another truck, but ended up getting an additional chicken taco here. He enjoyed the green sauce topping he put on, but it was a bit too spicy for me. I have to come back and try something else from here soon.

My girlfriend and I decided to visit the food truck terminal last night for the first time and landed on the Mexicalli Food Truck. I ordered the Tex-Mex burrito with Pork and we shared a plate of nachos. Starting off with the burrito, it was good not great. You could tell all the ingredients were fresh and you were getting more of an authentic taste vs a chain Tex mex burrito place. My only complaint was that it was a little dry and a little bland. I was expecting something that was going to blow my taste buds away but it was a little lackluster. The nachos on the other hand were very good. They were piled high and the chips were nice and crispy. My only complaint on the nachos was that there weren't layered so all the cheese was at the top. Overall I would recommend this Food truck as it is one of the better trucks (so I have heard). I am looking forward to trying more and determining where it ranks.
