Best “greasy spoon” Italian lunch counter this side of the Mississippi! Meatballs were juicy and rich with real (scratch cooking) flavor. Italian sausage was equally good, with fennel and very pleasant little kick. Peppers available for more kick! Wife would eat here every day. 90% of customers are greater by name and get their “usual” without opening their mouth.
Parking: Tiny lot, lots of take out; cars come and go.

Got a bacon, avocado, egg and cheese on a hard roll from them for breakfast today and it was absolutely delicious. Tastes like how breakfast sandwiches tasted back in the day. Highly recommend. Got the uncle Danny on a hard roll today (meatballs, sauce, ricotta and melted mozz) and a side of the Mac and cheese. The uncle Danny was fantastic. One of the best meatballs sandwiches I’ve ever had. The meatball actually tasted like meat and not bread filler. The Mac and cheese was super thick and creamy. Pretty good but next time I’d probably try something else just to try something different.
Parking: Very small parking lot and the place gets a lot of customers.

Good food and interesting combinations. Prices seem high. Paid $15 for one hoagie and nothing else.

There are so many great items here that it would take me all day to score them highly. But my favorite is on Wednesdays and fresh chicken cutlets, the best I’ve found locally to date. Think back going to your local Italian owned deli when the sandwich tasted awesome and your jaw hurt from that classic locally made Italian bread. If you’re a fan of broccoli rabe, Try Danny’s . Even the breakfast options are great.

Ordered Eggplant Parm it was terrible. First off, I couldn't get over the color grey it had no mozzarella, just a sprinkle of parm cheese. See the picture. I don't recommend this place.
My mom ordered eggplant parmesan. It did not have any mozzarella cheese on it. Only parmesan. I got the My Uncle's sub. It was very bland. It tastes like they don't put any herbs especially garlic in there sauce. It was very mediocre.

I come here for breakfast sandwiches when I’m in New Haven (they also have squash and eggs). Fun menu- love the Sinatra theme!

Food is ridiculously overpriced! Just spent over $20 on a BEC plus 2 drinks. Food is good yes, but not nearly worth what they’re charging.
