Had to rub my eyes to make sure that I was in New Haven because this restaurant stepped right out of Manhattan. Each dish we enjoyed was recommended by our sever as was the fabulous wine too. The chef introduced himself before seating and checked with us just as our larger plate arrived. He added very much to the overall ambiance.

Everything about this restaurant was top of the line. We are spoiled with amazing restaurants from where we are from and this restaurant is on the top of our list!! We were graciously greeted by Olivia, with a glass of presecco as we waited for Chef Vincent to bring us to our table. The hospitality here was everything you expect in fine dining and more. We were so impressed with the Chef’s personal involvement with our experience, as he brought us each dish. Olivia went above and beyond to bring us on a delightful journey through the menu. She was so informative and appreciated how she knew every detail of each dish. We were so impressed by her sincere care for our evening there. We ordered the yellowfin tuna, the scallops, the gulf shrimp and NY strip. Every dish was exquisite, a true “foodie” haven and taste adventure! They were so kind to bring us an heirloom beet salad in between and a house made dessert of strawberries and mascarpone gelato. The cocktails were perfect, both refreshing and enough to take the edge off. Honestly, so incredibly humbled by everyone’s involvement in our experience, from Chef Vincent, who took the time to get to know us, (something chefs rarely do), to Olivia and everyone else who kept the night running smoothly!! We cannot wait until we are back in CT and The Luke will be our first stop!!!

I never leave reviews. But I have to because this experience was just that good, and I’ve been to a lot of great restaurants in CT, NYC and Boston. From the moment you walk in, you’re treated like a friend visiting someone’s house with complimentary champagne. And don’t get me started on the bread. While you wait for your food they give you a warm ciabatta with ricotta ( I love ricotta ). We even asked for more and they brought it for us without any “oh it will be extra for more bread”.We had an amazing server Nicole who helped us get the right portions for our party of 4 since everything is shareable. And let me just say, the portions were perfection.I wanted to get a mock-tail but wasn’t sure what to get and asked if the bartender could make me something. It did not disappoint I ordered it again once I finished it. Lovely, citrus flavors which is exactly what I said I liked. We started with the Ahi Tuna which was so good and the brown butter aroma that came from the plating just lingered and we couldn’t stop dreaming about it.We also got the white asparagus and the polenta. They even gave us a second order of asparagus on the house ( I was so excited because I loved it and couldn’t stop eating it even though I was sharing with my friends ). The polenta was creamy heaven with shaved truffle on top I was dead. The mushrooms were delicious. Everything felt harmonious. We also got the scallops which were seriously perfection, there was not one thing that I would change. The cook on the scallop melted in your mouth. The sauce…the sauce!! A beautiful complimentary dish.Lastly, we shared the NY strip. At this point I was already thinking about when I could come back and didn’t even eat the strip yet and, to no surprise but in the moment my mouth dropped and my eyes wide with my first bite. A crispy exterior with a soft interior. Meat again cooked to perfection and again, paired with incredible sauce. The crazy part is everything on the menu sounded so good we would have gotten everything if we could. The service really added to the experience as well and the ambiance. It was raining which set the perfect vibe for a candle let dinner and beautiful architecture.A couple was sitting to the left of us and they look like they were in a movie, the small table by the window was so picturesque that we offered to take some of them if they wanted.Nicole came to our table to give us complimentary desert, frozen shaved strawberry with a gelato mascarpone. It was beautifully nostalgic and delicious. A clean desert that felt so refreshing.Nicole also brought complimentary chocolate covered almonds and I was feeling like a celebrity and also at home at the same time. Like the hospitality was just so apparent in the little ways they treated us.Unfortunately I have no photos because it just wasn’t the vibe. But trust me, some stranger on the internet, everything from the inside of the restaurant to the food itself was beautiful. We left the night over the moon and dreaming about our next visit. Thank you to everyone who made our night so wonderful.

The Luke is our favorite place to celebrate our special occasions. This service-first restaurant makes every guest feel special. The Chef takes time to connect with each table and is always willing to answer any questions you have about the menu. The tuna is our absolute favorite dish to share to start. We enjoy the shared menu concept as it creates a unique dining experience- experiencing the meal together and talking about our favorite parts is one of the reasons we love it here. It’s so different than standard dining where you just order your own thing.

Dining at The Luke was my ultimate dinner experience ever. The food, the service and the setting were impeccable. What distinguished this restaurant was not only the superb food, but the unique attention perfectly conveyed to each table. Chef Vincent participated in the service as well as creation. Our server was delightful and attentive. The setting is historic, and despite its architectural grandeur, felt intimate. The food was divine: every dish delighted. I will mention the crudo, polenta and veal, not to mention the blood orange Negroni. Each dish was distinctive.I rarely eat in restaurants in that I so enjoy cooking. The Luke is inspiring, and my recollection of its magnificence will summon me to return.Dietary restrictions: The staff inquired. We had none.

We were greeted with a glass of Prosecco wine. The staff was attentive, polite, very professional... a perfect balance of attentiveness... After reading one negative review out of the many good reviews I was hesitant with ordering a shared meal... and shared my hesitation to the person who was explaining the menu... Within minutes the chef came to our table... He explained the menu, the shared concept to us and without doubt it was one of the “Best” dining experiences we have had... The flavors magnificent... the flow of the courses...a beautiful experience ... Simply a beautiful experience... A Magnificent Chef!!!! We have eaten at wonderful restaurants, including Michelin Restaurants... This restaurant is not Michelin but is one of the best restaurants I have gone to... Excellent!!! Excellent!!! Excellent!!! A Wonderful Culinary Experience... A Wonderful Evening......

The Luke is a phenomenal restaurant in a truly stunning space in downtown New Haven. The dishes are made to share and are very generous and Chef Vincent’s hospitality and attention to guests extends the generosity even further. The highlight for me was the creamy polenta with truffles—so indulgent and delectably fragrant with freshly shaved truffles on top by the chef at the table. I also loved the yellowfin tuna with scallions, chive, white soy and brown butter (again finished by the chef at the table) and it was a momentous occasion: my mother who never eats raw or rare fish and usually cringes at the thought tried it - and liked it! Besides the food the service is really superb —friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. And the atmosphere and space is monumental! I love the antique architectural details and mosaic tiles floor. This is an excellent choice for a special occasion, birthday, sexy date night, or anytime you just want to splurge on a dazzling fine dining experience.

The food was excellent, but I came away feeling dissatisfied. Rather than choosing off the menu, my partner and I both opted for the chef’s choice 3-course meal. What they brought us was three of the first courses and one main, in total, all to share between us over the course of the meal. These four dishes were all from the regular menu. From the listed prices, we paid $30+ more for the “chef’s choice” than we would have if we had just chosen those four dishes ourselves. This made the whole experience feel unsatisfactory, despite the high quality of the food. What did we really pay for? Did they forget to bring us some dish?

Vincent is a grand chef that lives in New Haven and running Luke. He has a very great understanding taste and aesthetic of food that to the point, he even reached the same in the understanding level of Cantonese food, which I think to be the pearl of Chinese cuisine in making seafood.(Tuna dishes) This modern European food tastes exactly like the best you can find in the world. Thank you Vincent! I really appreciate your service and your food. And also thanks to Iris to provide us a great hospitality.
